Beckwith keen to stay and fight for Hatters place

Helping the Hatters through to an FA Cup third round home tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers has vindicated centre-half Dean Beckwith’s decision to stay at Kenilworth Road, writes Mark Wood.

The dominant defender had had the chance to go out on loan recently but decided to stay and fight for his place and impressed for 65 minutes in Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Dorchester before being forced off with a broken nose.

He said: “I was made aware of a club and I think the gaffer said there were a couple more clubs I could have gone to.

“I enjoy my time here, I like it here and if you’re playing it’s a great place to be at.

“I wanted to stay until Christmas anyway and try and get in the team and try and force my way back in.”
