Bath boss looks to stun Hatters but Town’s international stars remain confident

BULLISH Bath City boss Adie Britton believes his side are capable of stunning the Hatters at Kenilworth Road tomorrow, writes Mark Wood.

Their 2-1 home defeat to Kidderminster on Saturday was their eighth-straight defeat in all competitions and The Romans are on their worst run of league results in 40 years.

They are also 9/1 outsiders with league sponsors Blue Square Bet and missing Sekani Simpson with a hamstring injury but, in spite of this, Britton remains positive.

He said: “It’s a good time for us to go there.

“I’ll never lose my enthusiasm for it. What has happened this season has been very upsetting but I knew this could happen to us at any time following promotion.

“That’s because I understand the financial situation. Luton had 7,000 there when we played them last season and that is the size of the task we face.

“We are in the same division as Luton, Grimsby, Mansfield and Wrexham, but we are not competitors of theirs, just like Wigan don’t compete with Manchester United.

“But we genuinely go into every game thinking we can win and that will be the case again on Saturday.”

Town’s international stars certainly weren’t underestimating their opponents though.

Wales U21 midfielder Jake Howells said: “We’ve got hard games coming up, Bath’s not going to be easy tomorrow, we found that out up at their place.”

England C goalscoring hero Adam Watkins remained confident, though, that Luton would get the right result so long as they don’t underestimate their opponents.

He added: “We’ve got a game against Bath tomorrow and even though they are bottom of the league we’ve still got to give them the respect they deserve and they took a point off of us last time.

“It’s going to be a tough game but if we are at the races I think we can get the three points.”
