Ambitious Mendy keen to bolster Town midfield

Ambitious Guinea-Bissau international midfielder Arnaud Mendy was in no doubt he had joined a bigger club after helping the Hatters to a 2-0 FA Cup win at near-neighbours Cambridge United during his debut on Saturday., writes Mark Wood.

The 6ft 3ins 22-year-old central midfielder joined Town from Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Macclesfield Town on Friday and made an impressive bow at the Abbey Stadium.

Mendy, who impressed for the Silkmen in their 4-1 defeat at Kenilworth Road earlier this season, made a promising first appearance, robbing former Hatter Rossi Jarvis to set up Andre Gray’s opener against the U’s.
