All the odds as Hatters travel to Welling

Luton endured a hard fought goalless draw away at Gateshead last Saturday, in questionable playing conditions to say the least; gaffer John Still called the pitch ‘absolutely atrocious’ as the Tynesiders stifled the Hatters.

That being said Luton are now 10 games unbeaten and that clean sheet was their 11th of the campaign so far.

The Hatters look to be in a three horse race for the title, the 4/1 third favourites behind league leaders Cambridge United at 5/4 and Kidderminster Harriers at 4/1.

Kiddy were given a huge boost in midweek with news that manager Steve Burr has decided to stay at Aggborough and turned down an approach by Conference Premier rivals Forest Green.

BetVictor make Grimsby next in the betting at 8/1, Barnet 10/1 and 33/1 the field.

Still’s men are still obviously fancied to do well; a strong season is expected despite being seven points off top spot. Any takers for the 1/150 on a top half finish? It would mean one almighty capitulation as the Hatters 1/9 for a top five finish and 13/8 to finally make it back into the Football League and achieve promotion at the fifth attempt.

Luton’s attentions are now turned to the first round of the FA Cup when travelling to Welling United, buoyed by a fine run of form that has seen them creep up to contend a play-off spot, with four wins from their last five.

Three wins and a draw from The Wings’ last four home games has seen confidence grow at Park View Road and they aren’t a side to be underestimated.

Luton are the 5/4 favourites, Welling 85/40 and the draw 13/5, but you’d have to be very brave to back against the Hatters in this run of form, unbeaten in 10 with little sign of them stopping anytime soon.

Luton are 13/5 with BetVictor for the half time/full time double result, with the more conservative bet of draw/Luton perhaps the more appealing bet at 5/1.

Paul Benson is the 17/4 favourite to open the scoring but joint-top scorer Luke Guttridge looks the value at 8/1 (9/4 to score anytime) and it’s 4/1 for him to get on the scoresheet during a Luton Town victory.

A Luton 1-0 win pays 10/1 and a 2-0 win 14/1 with BetVictor, do those prices look a shade on the generous side?
