All the odds as Hatters travel to Tamworth

Town took their unbeaten run to seven thanks to a 4-1 defeat of hapless Hyde last weekend, writes BetVictor’s Charlie McCann.

Steve McNulty’s own goal on the stroke of half time was the Cheshire Club’s first in over 11 hours of football and sent the visiting army of away supporters into a state of near-delirium.

But at the other end, that is now 11 goals for John Still’s men in their last three games with Andre Gray taking his own personal tally to five in the period and six for the season.

He is now 12/1 from 33s earlier in the month at BetVictor to be the Conference’s leading scorer with Luke Guttridge, also six League goals, 25/1 from 66s.

Cambridge continued their unbeaten start to their season with a 0-0 draw away at Chester but it will be seen as two points lost rather than one point gained.

Grimsby suffered defeat away at Salisbury, a result that sees The Whites continue to creep seemingly un-noticed up the table in fourth and level on points with Luton. Cambridge remain 5/4 favourites, second placed Kidderminster 5/2, Luton 5/1 and bookmakers believe it is a three-horse race.

Luton travel to Tamworth on Saturday, a side who are as consistent at the English weather. The Staffordshire club have picked up excellent wins this season against Forest Green, Southport and Macclesfield but they could not be described as prolific and it could be a tight game.

BetVictor make Luton 21/20 to come away with all three points and, dare I say it, silence the Lambs’ supporters with the hosts 13/5 and the same price for a share of the spoils.

If the Hatters are to mount a serious title challenge, and 1,200 Luton supporters are likely to make the journey, this is a game they need all three points from.

In form Gray is 17/4 joint-favourite with strike partner Paul Benson to score the first goal, both are 5/4 to net anytime and we bet 20/1 that Gray goes home with the match ball for the second successive week.

I am sure Still wants three points rather than another three goals from his striker; my basic maths suggests there are likely to be more away supporters than home fans in the ground and cheered on by their 12th man the Hatters ought to claim three more valuable points.

With leaders Cambridge putting their 100 per cent home record on the line against Salisbury in the game of the day many Hatters’ fans will be hoping the U’s drop points for the first time this season in front of their own fans.

Richard Money’s side are 13/20 at BetVictor to maintain their perfect home record with the visitors 22/5 and the draw at 14/5.
