All the odds as Hatters host Gateshead

Luton Town go into the busy Christmas period on the back of another excellent win this time in the FA Trophy when they dispatched holders Wrexham at Kenilworth Road with a side showing no less than 10 changes from the previous demolition of Alfreton, writes BetVictor’s Charlie McCann.

There is no doubt in my mind that John Stillhas the best squad in the Conference at his disposal and he reaffirmed that he will continue to play a young side in the Trophy this term after his side were drawn at Conference leaders Cambridge in the next round.

The Hatters are 7/1 at BetVictor to lift the Trophy in the spring (Cambridge 5s) and we make Cambridge the 5/4 favourites for the tie with the Hatters 15/8 and the draw 12/5.

After the busy Christmas period it will be fascinating to see what side Richard Money fields at the Abbey Stadium.

The Hatters begin their quest for the 12 Points of Christmas when Gateshead visit Kenilworth Road on Saturday; Gary Mills’ side were dumped out of the Trophy at Conference south side Eastleigh last weekend when Stuart Fleetwood was amongst the goalscorers.

Town are 4/6 to make it four wins on the bounce and 2/1 to win to nil which looks a decent price when you consider they have kept five clean sheets on the spin in all competitions.

Cambridge United remain odds on 8/11 favourites for the title as a result of their extraordinary 100 per cent home record with John Still’s men 11/4 and Kidderminster Harriers 6/1.

With respect to the latter I am convinced it is a match and, with the U’s (even money) at Hereford this weekend, let’s hope the gap between the two sides contracts before Christmas Day.

Andre Gray (12) is now 4/1 favourite at BetVictor to be the League’s top goalscorer from Aldershot’s Brett Williams (12), leader Connor Jennings (14) of Macclesfield Town and Nuneaton’s Jake Moult all at 8/1.

Kwesi Appiah (10) cannot play for Cambridge between now and the end of the year due to the terms of his loan from Crystal Palace, but Money looks sure to move heaven and earth to get him back on loan when the window reopens in January.
