All the odds as Hatters host FC Halifax Town

The Hatters run of three consecutive victories ended Saturday when playing out a goalless draw away at Hereford, with conditions on the pitch were less than desired to say the very least, writes BetVictor’s Charlie McCann.

Manager John Still was far from happy with the state of the pitch, commenting after the game: “As the away team, not getting beaten, you’ve got to be happy with that; would I have liked to have won? Absolutely. The grass was so long, it was really hard to play the way we wanted to play.”

Let’s take the positives; it was another game without defeat and an eighth clean sheet in 12 games for Mark Tyler and his excellent defence and they did not lose any further ground to leaders Cambridge who grabbed a good point at Wrexham.

Cambridge remain 7/4 favourites for the title with Kidderminster 4s and Luton 5/1; of the three Harriers (21/20) have the toughest task this weekend when they travel to Chester (27/10) but I think all three market leaders will get maximum points.

Luton play host to Halifax at the weekend a side level on points with Town but have struggled on the road gaining 19 of their 20 points to date at The Shay including a 2-1 defeat of Chester last weekend.

The Hatters are worthy 4/5 favourites with Halifax 31/10 and the draw 13/5. I expect the Hatters to win well and they are 19/10 to lead at both half-time and full-time which looks a shade too big as John Still will have them primed for 3 o’clock given they been without a midweek fixture.

Halifax have scored in all but one of all their league games thus far this season but I fancy the 9/4 for Luton to win to nil.

The Hatters are 15/2 to nick it 1-0 win, 9/1 to beat The Shaymen 2-0 and a repeat of their scintillating 4-0 defeat of Woking is a handsome 35/1.

Last week’s conference treble obliged and we are hoping for more of the same this weekend with Cambridge 3/5 (H Hereford), Grimsby 11/5 (At Aldershot) and Forest Green 13/10 (A Alfreton) which pays just under 11/1 with BetVictor.
