All the odds as Hatters travel to Rovers

The News/Gazette BetVictor column

Having backed Luton for the Conference pre-season, Saturday was the first time this campaign I had mixed feelings about what was an excellent win for the Hatters at Cambridge, writes Charlie McCann.

Of course a good run in the FA Cup is good for morale, fans and the coffers but with promotion and the title the primary objectives a part of me wouldn’t have been too disappointed had Luton met with defeat!

Back to league action this weekend and a cracking game as the Hatters go to Forest Green to meet a Rovers side who won 4-1 at Dartford on Tuesday night in a FA Cup replay having drawn 1-1 at The New Lawn on Saturday.

Rovers have struggled somewhat in recent weeks and with a week to get over their Cambridge exertions the hope is that Luton are the fresher side with Rovers having had a barren October losing three and drawing one of their last four games ahead of the trip to Kent.

Luton are marginal favourites for Saturday’s game at 8/5 with BetVictor but have already been well-backed with Forest Green 7/4 and the draw at 23/10.

It was nice to see Jon Shaw back among the goals at the Abbey Stadium and the striker is 5/1 to open the scoring at the weekend with Stuart Fleetwood 4/1 favourite and Andre Gray excellent against the U’s at 6/1.

Forest Green are 10/1 for the Conference title at BetVictor and need a win to get their season and promotion push back on track; the hope is they continue to struggle at least until the end of the month although Rovers will be fully aware that they will leapfrog the Hatters with a win at the weekend.

Paul Buckle’s side remain 7/4 favourites for the Conference title and in the long term their attacking options could be the key; that’s what I keep telling/persuading myself anyway!

A real Super Sunday of Premier League action with Chelsea meeting Manchester United in the second half of a cracking double-header following Brendan Rodgers’ first taste of the unique atmosphere that is the Merseyside Derby when Liverpool travel across Stanley Park to meet neighbours Everton.

Chelsea are 13/10 to make home court advantage count against United (85/40) with the draw at 12/5; goals look guaranteed with both sides very attack minded and three goals or more must be the shout at 8/11 with two or fewer priced at 6/5.
