All the odds as Hatters host Hereford

The News/Gazette BetVictor column

Two clean sheets and four points from two away games is a decent return for John Still from his first two games in charge of Town, writes Charlie McCann.

The lack of creativity was clear for all to see at Nuneaton on Tuesday though and it is fair to say that the Hatters’ promotion dreams are over for another season.

Hereford are the visitors to Kenilworth Road on Saturday and they will leapfrog Town in the table with a win and they have picked up more wins on their travels than at Edgar Street so far this term.

Bulls led local rivals Newport County 2-1 going into the last 10 minutes on Tuesday night but lost out 3-2 with Newport never ahead until the third minute of added time.

Remember when Town were involved in such entertaining games? No me neither and since the win at Carrow Road at the end of January Luton have been in only one game out of eight in the Conference with more than two goals.

With that in mind could you back them at 19/20 at betvictor.com for the visit of the Bulls who won the reverse fixture 1-0 (what else?) earlier in the season. Wrexham remain 6/4 favourites for the Conference title with Grimsby 9/4, Mansfield 9/2 and Newport 11/2 after their win midweek.

Town are still 33/1 for promotion with Hereford 40s and Newport are now 2/1 to be promoted after their last-gasp triumph at Edgar Street. We bet 8/13 that there are three or more goals at Kenilworth Road and 13/10 two or fewer; the latter looks the call given Town’s inability to create chances although there has been three or more goals in three of Hereford’s last four Conference fixtures.

A 1-1 draw is priced at 6/1 with 0-0 (heaven forbid) 14s! John Still now knows the extent of the job he has in hand but will it stop me from backing Town for the ttle in 2013/14? Nothing wrong with letting your heart rule your head occasionally.
