All the odds as Hatters host Grimsby

Luton continued their ascent up the Skrill Premier last weekend after two second half penalties earned them a 2-0 victory over promotion rivals Kidderminster, writes Charlie McCann.

The Hatters should have been in front before half time if Jake Howells had taken two gilt-edge chances, before duly making amends with 20 minutes left with the first of two very well taken spotkicks.

Ignore the position of being 11 in the table, their season starts now. Bad luck had dogged their early season matches; penalties, injuries and sending offs going against them and the Hatters are now 5/1 to win the Conference and 9/4 for promotion.

Luton entertain Grimsby on Saturday evening live in front of the BT Sport cameras and despite last week’s win, pressure is still mounting on gaffer John Still.

They will be fully expected to dispatch of a Grimsby side that were beaten at home by Nuneaton last week and BetVictor make Luton 11/10 favourites, Grimsby 5/2 and the draw 5/2.

Although Grimsby lost last weekend against an impressive Nuneaton, they were touted as possible dark-horses for promotion and like Luton, have struggled with their consistency.

Wins over Gateshead, Alfreton and Hyde have shown The Mariners to be a very smart footballing side. A repeat of that should see them test Luton’s defence, the ‘Both Teams to Score’ is surely bound to kop and looks good value at 31/40.

Having said that, the ‘Under 2.5 goals’ could land if both teams get caught up in a nervy, cagey encounter and is a shade of odds on 20/23.

Given the home advantage and form of the two teams Luton could just edge it after a reserved first half so the Draw/Luton for the half time/full time at 22/5 looks something for punters and fans to cheer on alike. The Hatters 1-0 is 15/2.
