League newcomers still to earn a point!

Ickwell & Old Warden are now two points clear in the Premier Division (supported by Sportsform) following their 4-1 home victory over Bedford Sports Athletic. Lee Threadgold netting twice alongside Tim Gill and Dean Hamilton against the Athletic reply via Daniel Bond.

For second placed Bedford Hatters it was an end to their season’s 100 per cent record when held to a 1-1 home draw by AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College, Richard Cook on the home scoresheet against a Town reply from Matthew Cheveralls.

In third spot are Arlesey Town Reserves who retained their season’s unbeaten ways in a 1-1 home draw with Renhold United, Bodun Lawal giving Town a 40th minute lead before United’s Scott Alleyne levelled matters on the hour mark.

The highest scorers of the day were Caldecote. They romped to a 5-1 victory at Flitwick Town to move up into fifth place in the standings. Jack Boyd with a hat-trick plus goals from Tom Cookman and Paul Lawrence only being replied to by Town’s Chris Bull.

Just one goal behind and netting their first win of the season were Shefford Town & Campton, for them it was a 4-0 home victory over Wilshamstead.

Adam Chambers shooting them ahead as early as the fourth minute and when Michael Jones doubled the scoreline in the 21st minute the writing was on the wall for the visitors, thus it proved when Jones netted his second of the afternoon 17 minutes into the second period and Chris Clark rounded off the scoring 15 minutes from time.

There was a first point of the season for Blunham from a 2-2 home draw with still unbeaten Lidlington United Sports. Goals from Steve Capener and Zak Henry being cancelled out by United replies from Nick Barton and Alex Burrows.

Life gets no better for league newcomers AFC Biggleswade who went down to their third consecutive defeat 3-1 at home against Marston Shelton Rovers.

Jamie Cerminara (two) and Mark Champkin netted for Rovers against a lone reply from Bryn Williams, his strike combined with Wilshamstead’s heavier defeat lifted the newcomers off the bottom of the league table ahead of the pair meeting at Jubilee Playing Fields next weekend.

Division One

Leaders Leighton United went three points clear at the head of the standings with win number three on the bounce in a 3-1 home victory over Lea Sports PSG, Luke Dolan twice and Paul Darton seeing their goals only replied to by Rondell Belfon.

Sitting in second spot with a 100 per cent record from their only two outings are Pavenham, for them it was a 4-1 home win over Brickhill Tigers thanks to a hat-trick from James Owen and a strike from Tom Ellis.

Now in fourth place are Sandy following their 3-1 home win over Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Ryan Burgess, Mark Jennings and an own goal marking the home scoresheet against a lone reply from Sam Amuso.

Life at home was also sweet for Elstow Abbey and Shillington, however The Abbey were required to come from behind twice to beat Henlow 6-3.

At one stage they trailed 2-0 after goals, Glen Tumulty in the 27th minute and Andy Smith two minutes into the second period squared matters up only to see Henlow push themselves back in front before a hat-trick between the 68th and 74th minutes from Smith to take his personal tally to four goals shot The Abbey two goals clear before Dominic Parrella completed the scoring four minutes from time. Johnny Rowe with a brace plus George Zitko the Henlow goalscorers.

Shillington meantime were 4-2 winners over Luton Boys. Sam James, Sam Martin, Phil Bright and Jordan Robbins all finding the back of the net against replies from Trevor Brown and Joel Clarke.

The lone away winners in this division being Kings AFC who netted their first win of the season 3-1 at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Adam Haywood, Chris Greene and Dan Phillis goals only being replied to by Shaun Challi for The Town.

Division Two

Goldington’s lead at the head of the Division Two league table is now down to just a single point after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Eastcotts AFC, Ciaran Alexander the home marksman against a 25 yard screamer in reply from Chris Huckle.

In second spot heading five other sides on six points are Woburn Athletic who ran out 3-1 home winners over Westoning, Dan Mclaren the sole destroyer with a hat-trick against a lone reply from Dean Gadsden.

Taking up third spot and the divisions only 100% side are St Josephs Reserves who made it two wins from two outings with a 2-1 victory at Stopsley Park. Kieran Doherty and Mark Blower netting the vital goals against a Park reply via a 25 yard free kick from Kiaudio Petoshi.

Whilst fourth place now belongs to Sundon Park Rangers following their 3-1 home win over Bromham United, Matthew Conway bagging all three goals against a lone United reply from Rob Hewitt.

The other two clubs on six points are Marabese Ceramics and Meltis Albion. For The Tilermen in fifth place it was a 2-1 win at Queens Park Crescents, Colin Standley and Ricky Bruniges seeing their goals only replied to by Zain Riasat.

Whilst sixth place Albion claimed a 2-1 home victory over Cranfield United Reserves. Daniel Smith and Michael Butler on the scoresheet against a United reply from James Armstrong.

Division Three

Clifton retained their season’s 100 per cent record and remain at the top of the division three standings following a 4-1 home win over Riseley Sports, Tony Norman leading the way with a hat-trick alongside a strike from Nick Thomas against a lone reply via Niall O’Connor.

Just goal difference behind them and still 100 per cent after their own three games are Marsh Leys, for them it was a 6-1 away romp at Bedford Park Rangers. Kade Walker netting twice alongside single goals from Alex Chipston, Keiron Jackson, Jamie Carson and Sylvester Mulenga against a lone Rangers reply from Laurence James.

In third spot after two outings are Westoning Reserves who claimed a 5-2 victory at Potton Town, goals from Gareth White, Scott Gadsden, James Bennett, John Murray and Rob Malcom outweighing home strikes from Jamie Hutchinson and James Day.

Moving up into fourth spot are Wilshamstead Reserves, for them it was a 5-0 home win over Dunton. Jay Hall with a brace plus strikes from JM ‘John’ Steele, Liam Philip and Liam Fenton bringing up the nap hand.

Just a point behind them in fifth place and still unbeaten this season are Stevington who shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw at Renhold United Reserves. Sam Nightingale twice plus Gavin White on their scoresheet against United replies from Matthew Tatham, Jonathon Overdon and Lee Haughton.

Elsewhere, it was a red letter day for Great Barford who won for the first time in 32 outings with a 2-1 victory at Kempston Hammers Sports. Mark Harlow and Ben Stocks having their goals only replied to by James Grandidge.

Meantime, Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves opened up their league season with a 4-3 victory at Royal Oak Kempston.

Trailing 2-0 to a brace of goals from Lorenzo Jordan, the fight back commenced with a peach of a strike from their Adam ‘pocket rocket’ Drakville after 27 minutes and a fluke of a strike from Jacob Evans nine minutes later to see the sides all square at the break. Matthew McCartney on 55 minutes and an own goal two minutes later shot them 4-2 ahead before Jordan completed his hat-trick and the scoring on the hour mark.

Division Four

With Bedford Panthers sitting the afternoon out, Elstow Abbey Res took full advantage to move to the top of Division Four with a 3-1 win at Kempston Athletic. Trailing to a strike from Athletics’ Gary Whitbread, Sean Hendry tied things up by half-time and then placed his side ahead in the second period before Travis Joseph made it 3-1 to seal the full three points.

Moving up into third spot are Kempston Con Club, for them it was a 3-2 home victory over Flitwick Town Res.

It all looked plain sailing when goals from Ben Sparks, Ryan Collis and Lee Collis shot them into a 3-0 lead but a strike from Ravi Jessani made it 3-1 at the break and a goal from Cody Roberts ensured a tense last 30 minutes before the points were finally sealed.

Top scorers of the day were Dinamo Flitwick, they claimed their first win of the season with a 5-1 home victory over Shefford Town & Campton A. Barrie Hannam and Dale Goldie netting twice alongside Dom Loadman against a Town reply via Daniel Cullerton.

The other three games also seeing for the victors first wins of the season, Ivan Anderson and Jayden Johnson on the scoresheet for Wootton Village in their 2-0 win at Caldecote A.

Ben Greenwood with a 85th minute strike taking Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves to a 1-0 home win over Sandy Reserves, whilst goals from George Harris, Joe Marshall and Andrew Commons against a reply from Nicky Albone gave Clifton Reserves a 3-1 victory at Dunton Reserves.
