Kempston are hit for seven

NEW Premier Division leaders are Caldecote following their 7-0 romp against AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College. There were two goals apiece for Barry Dellar and Tom Cookman and further strikes from David Lenton and Kai Griffiths-Shilton which took them 6-0 clear in the opening period while Tom Wallace added to the scoreline in the second half.

For third placed side Bedford Hatters, it was a retention of their unbeaten start to the season with a share of the spoils in a 3-3 draw at Sharnbrook.

Darren Wallinger, Luke Devine and Jayme Harris were on the scoresheet for the hosts against Hatters replies from Mark Reed, Richard Cook and Scott Alleyne.

Also retaining their season’s unbeaten ways were Oakley Sports who drew 2-2 at home with Flitwick Town. Mark Smith and an own goal were replied to by Dean Warren and Dean Conway.

It was another miserable day for bottom of the table Renhold United who were beaten 4-2 at Woburn. Daniel McClaren (two), Ryan Chesters and Tom Dell were on the mark for the Safari Boys against a brace in reply from Alex Woolston.

Division One

ICKWELL & Old Warden now only trail leaders Lidlington United Sports on goal difference following a 2-0 home win over Caldecote Reserves with Lee Threadgold and Anup Kalyan netting the goals. But on their tails in third are Marston Shelton Rovers who retained their own unbeaten start to the season with a 4-2 success at bottom of the table Kings AFC. Jamie Cerminara netting twice alongside singles for James Burraway and Mark Champkin, the replies coming from Ryan Kelly and Oliver Plestead.

Also unbeaten are Bedford Sports Athletic who ran out 5-1 winners at Henlow. First half strikes from Andrew Latimer, Paul Nigro and Gary Canzano saw them lead 3-0 at the break before Latimer completed his hat-trick in the second period, the Henlow reply from Adam Cavell.

Keeping up the away winners theme were FC Meppershall They won 1-0 at Meltis Albion thanks to a goal from Padraic Walsh. Also away from home, Sandy beat Westoning 3-0 thanks to Chris Nicholls, Rob Tapley and Mark Jennings.

Beds Intermediate Cup

LIDLINGTON United Sports made it safely into the second round of the Intermediate Cup and set up a home tie with Kent Athletic Reserves following a comfortable 3-0 win at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves when Kieren Wills, Darren Sims and Dominic Martins all found the net.

Joining them in round two are Luton Boys, their passage being gained without kicking a ball after Luton Leagrave withdrew from the competition in midweek. The Boys now travel to Forde Park for a meeting with Langford Reserves.

Not so lucky were Lea Sports PSG who were beaten 2-1 in a penalty shoot-out by St Joseph’s after the previous 120 minutes play had failed to produce a single goal. Sam Cuciano was their succesful spot kicker.

Division Two

IN the day’s only Division Two fixture, AFC Turvey retained their season’s 100 per cent start to claim pole position with a 1-0 victory at Sundon Park Rangers, Tim Clarke netting the vital goal.

Beds FA Junior Cup

THE result of the day in the Beds FA Junior Cup belonged to Renhold Village who enjoyed a 2-1 home victory over last season’s beaten finalists Pavenham.

Dan Luke and Carl Townsend were on the scoresheet against a reply from Tom Rodger to earn the Village a trip to Cranfield United Reserves in the next round. Cranfield were 6-1 winners at Caddington Reserves after Dan Cockerton and Mark Dring each scored twice alongside singles strikes from Adam Kerr and James Armstrong.

Also causing an upset were Royal Oak Kempston. They were 3-0 winners at Great Barford after Lorenzo Jordan and Lewis Smith put them 2-0 ahead in the opening half. Then it was Sean Boland who put the tie to bed four minutes into the second period to earn his side a home tie with Farley Boys Reserves.

Joining the giant-killing act were both Thurleigh and Wilshamstead Reserves with wins over higher division oppostion. Thurleigh went through 3-2 after two goals from Ben Stock and a single from Josh Pierre St Clare saw them beat Bromham United whose replies came from Phill Kempsell and Dean Waghorn.

Whilst Wilshamstead Reserves were 4-0 home winners against Marabese Ceramics thanks to a brace from Jay Hill and strikes from Hani Thearra and Kieron Colclough. They now get a visit from Bedford Park Rangers in round two after they won 5-1 at Wootton Village. Two goals from Matthew Westwood and singles by Shaun Finlay, Stephen Walsh and Josh Geary did the trick, the home reply from Andrea Capagghione.

Top scorers of the day were Elstow Abbey who won 14-0 at North Sundon Wanderers. Danny Pilgrim and Glen Tumulty both netted a brace while an own goal to take them 5-0 up by half time while another nine were added in the second period. Pilgrim and Tumulty both completing their hat-tricks, Harry Ellis also joining them as hat-trick men alongside a brace for Ed L’Erario and penalties from Damian Matthews and Darren Ayre which complete the rout. It now brings Riseley Sports to The Warren in round two.

Also winning big were Potton Town. They were 7-2 home winners over Stopsley Baptist Church thanks to Chris Moore (two), Chris Cooper, James Pyman, James Day, Nick Gilbert and Marcus Tait. Town now go to Sundon Park Rangers in round two.

At Whiston Crescent Clifton saw their hopes of a cup run ended when going down 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out against Stopsley Park after 120 minutes had seen the sides deadlocked at 4-4. Tony Norman bagged a hat-trick and Patrick Owen the other with the Park replies from James Smart, Jack O’Shea, Lee West and Lee Russell. The Park now face a home tie against Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’ who were given a bye when Bedford Panthers failed to raise a side.

Another club needing more than 90 minutes to earn a place in round two were Sundon Park Rangers Colts. For them it was a 3-2 extra time win over Stevington thanks to Ashley Wadhams who netting all three goals, an own goal and a strike from Luke Cronin in reply for Stevington. The Colts now travel to Square Rangers in round two.

Elsewhere Co-op Sports were 3-1 home winners over Westoning Reserves with goals from Scott Davis, Chris Vardy and Steve Smith against a reply from Joe Rogers. They now face Flitwick Town Reserves in the next round after they emerged 4-2 home winners over Clifton Reserves. Grant Archer bagged a hat-trick alongside an own goal, the Clifton replies from Mason Bambridge and Harry Green.

Two clubs now destined to meet in round two are Goldington and Kempston Hammers Sports after both received walkovers in round one. Goldington’s came thanks to the demise of Dinamo Flitwick in midweek while the Hammers’ easy passage came after Caldecote ‘A’ failed to raise a side to meet them at Cutler Hammer.

Strange as it might seem, still on the cup trail are Dinamo Flitwick Reserves. They were 4-0 home winners over Sandy Reserves thanks to Dean Adams (two), Ben Hannam and Joe Burton. It means they now face Queens Park Crescents in round two.

Also hitting the road in the next round are Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. They go to AFC Turvey after a 4-1 home victory over FC Spandits Reserves. Adam Chambers, Paul Still, Adam Larsen and Jordan Robbins were their goalscorers.

However for Marsh Leys it will be a home tie in round two against Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves after they won 4-1 at Chrisitan in Sports Reserves, Alex Clipson netting three times (inclulding twice from the penalty spot) alongside a goal from Jamie Carson.

Two other sides into round two are Potton United Reserves and M & DH Oakley. United will now entertain Eastcotts AFC after goals from Sam Barham and a returning from injury Jamie Steele which took them to a 2-0 win at Four Model Reserves.

The Oakley outfit will now travel to face Goldington Hammers after winning 4-1 at Kempston Athletic thanks to Lee Leonard (two), Lee Osmond and Jamie Underwood, the lone Athletic reply from Gary Whitbread.

Alas it was the end of the road for Stewartby Village and Dunton Reserves. A brace from Tom Wheelhouse failed to save the Village from losing 5-2 at The 61FC (Luton) ‘A’, while despite strikes from Jon Fediw and Uqur Demir, Dunton Reserves were beaten 4-2 at home by Co-op Sports Reserves.

Division Three

THE lone Division Three match was at Gold Street where Riseley Sports played out a 2-2 draw with Goldington. Tom Ellison and Carl Walker were on the scoresheet for the hosts against replies from Jordan Kumar and Damion Quigley.
