Holders dumped out of Britannia Cup

The day’s closest game came on the Green where Marston Shelton Rovers required extra time to see off the hosting Ickwell & Old Warden 4-3 thanks to braces of goals from Jamie Cerminara and Alex Burrows against home replies via Zak Rowe twice and Josh Cranwell once.

Whilst just down the road at Harvey Close hosts Caldecote needed to come from a goal behind to beat Elstow Abbey 3-1. Harry Ellis fired the Abbey ahead before a brace of goals from Sam Julian and a strike from Jake Wallace won the day for the home side.

The ties Ampthill Town Reserves v Renhold United: Cranfield United v Sandy and Eastcotts AFC v AFC Oakley M&DH failed to beat the wet weather.

Centenary Cup Round One

The result of the day belonged to Houghton Athletic who ran out 6-3 home winners over Stevington where both Jordan Thomas and Shaun Fahy claimed hat-tricks.

Whilst also hitting six were Westoning who emerged 6-1 winners at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Sam Holmes led the way with a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by a brace from Rob Cooksey and a single strike from Bryn Reynolds against a lone Town reply from Anas Bechkaum.

Over at Groveside hosts Henlow ran out 4-1 home winners over Riseley Sports. Ahead in the eighth minute via a strike from Russell Ayles they in effect sealed the tie when both Antony Bowskill and Kaan Fehmi netted within a three minute spell just after the hour mark to lead 3-0.

With 15 minutes left to play Mark Darlow reduced the arrears for the visitors only to see substitute James Campbell add a fourth home goal five minutes from time.

For Shefford Town & Campton Reserves there was the requirement of extra time before they claimed a place in the last eight with an 8-4 victory at Potton Town.

Chris Moore with a brace plus Chris Cooper and Tom Pyman were on the home scoresheet in the opening 90 minutes against braces in reply from Steve Moules and Sam Kelly before strikes from Ross Earl twice, Simon Castle and Moules won the day for the visitors in extra time.

The Ickleford v AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves tie fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford

In the lone league game of the day Queens Park Crescents swapped sixth and fifth spots in the league table with Meltis Albion after the Crescents won 4-1 at Miller Road, Daniel Rasol with a brace joined on the scoresheet by Fabio Sattar and Myles Ferraro against a lone Albion reply from Stanley Gonese.

Division Two

With league leaders Cranfield United Reserves having their game at Clapham Sports waterlogged off Cople Sports & Bedford SA took full advantage to move to within goal difference of them when retaining their 100% home record and making it seven wins on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Atletico Europa. Ollie Hughes and Daniel Collins netted the vital goals against one in reply from Cameron Browne.

However, the biggest winners of the day were Kempston Hammers Sports who won 9-1 at bottom of the table Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves. Sean Winconek with a hat-trick was joined on the scoresheet by a brace from Jimmy Grandidge and single strikes via Craig Davenport, Louis Rust, Martin Bennett and Kirk Mckinley against a lone Rovers reply from Keiron Day.

Elsewhere Flitwick Town Reserves failed to climb the table into third spot when held to a 1-1 draw at Wootton Village. Adam Flynn on the Village scoresheet against a Town reply from Scott Gadsden.

The Kempston Athletic v Bedford United game at Cutler Hammer was waterlogged off.

Division Three

Wixams’ lead at the head of the division three league table remains at seven points after they shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw at second place Sundon Park Rovers. Scott Fraser, Nick Buttigeig and Daniel Longalonga on the Rovers scoresheet against replies via Iain Hall, Charlie Battams and Danny Lawrence.

Whilst Shefford Town & Campton A, having lost their last three home games, returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over bottom of the table Clifton who were losing their seventh game on the bounce. Liam Chalkley, Scott Frusciante and Tristan Potkins the home goal scorers.

The remaining four games Dinamo Flitwick v Caldecote Reseerves: Renhold United Reserves v AFC Dunton: Sandy Reserves v Meltis Albion Reserves and Wilstead Reserves v White Eagles were all postponed.

Division Four

Mid Beds Tigers’ lead at the head of the division four league table is now up to 12 points after they retained their seasons 100% ways with a 2-1 home win over second place Polonia Bedford who were duly losing their 100% away record. Luke Rudd and David Smith were on the Tigers scoresheet against a lone reply from Lukssz Szymczyk.

Now in third spot are Caldecote A who swapped places with Bedford Albion by beating them 4-2 on their own patch to take their unbeaten ways up to five games. Neil Giles with a hat-trick plus Jack Stagg scored the vital goals against an Albion brace in reply from Shaun Challi.

Just goal difference behind the Albion in fifth spot are Stevington Reserves who emerged 5-1 home winners over second from bottom of the table Henlow Reserves. Sam Nightingale with a brace was joined on the scoresheet by Joe Walsh, Clinton Tatham and Aaron Fletcher to bring up the nap hand against a lone reply from Robson Angal.

However the biggest win of the day belonged to AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College A who were 9-3 home winners over bottom of the table Lidlington United Sports. Gio Moscaritolo and Niko Stanchev with braces joined on the scoresheet by single strikes from Nick Layne, Chris Allen, Farid Mirzal and Joseph Ogunremi against replies via Chris Roberts, Alex Roberts and Greg Roberts.
