Henlow hit six as many fixtures fall to heavy rain

Shillington sit three points clear in the Bedfordshire League Premier Division supported by Sportsform after they recorded their sixth win on the bounce with a 6-2 victory at Renhold United.

Chris Slough, Sam James, Jorden Robbens, Steve Moules, Adrian Fontenello and Ryan Lewis all found the back of the net against United replies via Ben Brown from the penalty spot and Alex Woolston.

Lidlington United Sports missed their opportunity to climb up into second spot when beaten 2-0 at Flitwick Town. Town with goals from Jim Lewis and Liam Keane had the luxury of Peter Kouwenberg missing a second half penalty as they netted their second win on the bounce to climb up into fifth place.

For Caldecote it was their first away win of the season with a 3-2 victory at Shefford Town & Campton. Danny McIver, Connor Smith and Glen Renforth scored the vital goals against home replies via Michael Jones from the penalty spot and Andrew Hayday.

The games AFC Oakley Sports M&DH v Marston Shelton Rovers ; Sharnbrook v Ickwell & Old Warden and Wootton Blue Cross v Wilstead falling victims to waterlogged pitches.

With the Goldington v Eastcotts AFC ; Luton Boys Seniors v Bromham United ; Marabese Ceramics v Brickhill Tigers ; Sandy v Bedford Sports Athletic; Shefford Town & Campton Reserves v Woburn Lions and Sundon Park Rangers v AFC Turvey games all postponed due to waterlogged pitches, the lone action in Division One came at Groveside where Henlow ran out 6-2 home winners over Elstow Abbey.

This win, the home sides eighth consecutive victory in all competitions and their sixth league win on the bounce, taking them up to fifth place in the league table.

It was against the run of play that Abbey took the lead in the 20th minute via Myles Ferrado but just 60 seconds later Henlow were level after Ed L’Erario netted an own goal and it was rather surprising that it took the home side until the 55th minute to take the lead through Matthew Rumbellow, a lead they then increased to 3-1 four minutes later with a strike from Russell Ayles. Abbey’s task then became more difficult 20 minutes from time as referee Nigel Taylor showed Simon Gatward his second yellow card of the afternoon in an incident in which home player George Kiely was somewhat fortunate to only see yellow rather than red and near on impossible five minutes later when Robert Mirto also saw red for a handball offence on the goalline from which Mark McMillen netted the resulting penalty to take the scoreline to 4-1.

However, the nine men via Ferrado made it 4-2 in the 80th minute before further goals from James Cambell in the 85th minute and Rumbellow with his second of the afternoon in time added on brought up the final 6-2 scoreline.

With Division Two league leaders Potton Town having their game at Queens Park Crescents waterlogged off, Clifton are now just goal difference behind them in second spot following their 2-0 victory at Potton United Reserves. Sam Amos and Dan Ellis netting the goals to take them to their fourth win on the bounce.

Elsewhere, Great Barford also enjoyed a 2-0 away win at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Reuben Hukin and Gary Canzano netting the vital goals.

Also falling vitcim to waterlogged pitches were the games, Co-op Sports v AFC Oakley Sports M&DH Reserves; Kings AFC v Cranfield United and Riseley Sports v AFC Harlington.

With Stevington’s Division Three game at Kempston Hammers Sports off waterlogged, Meltis Albion are now five points clear after netting their fifth win on the bounce with a 3-1 victory at Elstow Abbey Reserves. Abbey who had also won their last four games taking the lead via Aiden Powell and holding onto the advantage until a brace from Sylvester Mulenga and a strike from Calum Stuart in the closing 15 minutes won the day for The Albion.

For Kempston Club Sports it was a 5-3 home win over Wilstead Reserves. James Coates and Vincent Clark both netting twice alongside Ben Sparks to bring up the nap hand against replies via Paul Johnson, Luke Prietzel and Liam Fenton. Whilst Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves ran out 4-2 home winners over second from bottom of the table AFC Bush who have now lost their last five outings. Mark Campkin, Dean Clark, Jake Cullum and Carl Borromeo on the Rovers scoresheet against Bush replies via Jamie Underwood and Craig Bowman.

Also off were the games Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves v Kempston Athletic and Westoning v Bedford Panthers.

With Division Four leaders FC Houghton having their game at Bedford Park Rangers called off, Meltis Albion Reserves are now just two points behind them after they retained their seasons unbeaten ways with a 2-0 home win over a Sandy Reserves side losing for the first time in six outings. Adam Cranny netting both goals.

However, for third place Wootton Village it was a shock 1-2 home defeat against a Flitwick Town Reserves side who duly lifted themselves off the bottom of the league table with their first away win of the season. Tom Pool and Nick Atkins on the Town scoresheet against a lone Village reply from Andrea Capacchione.

Now sitting on the bottom of the table are Shefford Town & Campton A who went down to their seventh consecutive defeat when beaten 2-0 at Caldecote A, for whom Mark Basta and Mark Endersby found the back of the net.

The biggest winners of the day and now up into fourth spot in the league table are Dinamo Flitwick who recorded their fourth straight win with a 5-0 home success over Atletico Europa. Dom Loadman with a hat-trick plus Josh Pearson with a brace bringing up the nap hand.

Elsewhere following three straight home defeats Moggerhanger United returned to winning ways on home soil with a 2-1 victory over Mid Beds Tigers. Luke Rudd netting both goals against a Tigers reply from Cameron Hall.

The Cranfield United Reserves v Clapham Sports game was waterlogged off.
