Hayday nets late leveller for Shefford Town & Campton

With the wet weather around the area, only one Premier Division supported by Sportsform clash went ahead on Saturday on the 3G Turf as Flitwick Town took on Shefford Town & Campton.

The hosts extended their unbeaten run to four games by sharing the spoils with a 3-3 draw.

In front via a Dan Stafford strike in the seventh minute, Shefford levelled just a minute from the break when Michael Jones netted.

Within nine minutes of the restart, a powerful header from Peter Kouwenburg put Flitwick ahead once more and Stafford’s second made it 3-1.

Visiting skipper Jones grabbed his second of the game in the 69th minute to throw Shefford a lifeline, before fine saves from both goalkeepers Peter Hyde and Ben Fruciante kept the scores 3-2.

The vistors were not to be denied though as Andrew Hayday equalised with seven minutes to go before he was denied a winner by another excellent stop from Hyde.

All the Division One games were washed out, but in Division Two, leaders Potton Town maintained their unbeaten away record with a fifth successive triumph, a comprehensive 5-1 win at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves.

Jamie Hutchinson netted twice, while Charlie Seward, Chris Cooper and Chris Moore were on target against a lone reply via Danny Pilgrim.

The only other game to survive the elements saw Queens Park Crescents extend their unbeaten ways to five games but miss the opportunity to climb up into second spot in the table when held to a 0-0 home draw by Potton Town United Reserves who thus ended a run of four consecutive defeats.

There were no Division Three games due to the weather, but in Division Four, FC Houghton are now five points clear at the head of the table after winning 4-0 at Caldecote A, Lawrence Taylor and Mark Doran both netting twice to do the damage.

Moggerhanger United are fifth following their 5-2 home win over second from bottom Shefford Town & Campton A who have now lost their last eight games.

Brandon Bates, Dean Hill, Luke Rudd, Jamie Saunderson and George Tyrer were on the United scoresheet against a brace in reply from Wayne Haxton.

Elsewhere, Atletico Europa, following two consecutive defeats, jumped above Caldecote A into 10th spot with a 2-2 home draw against fourth place Dinamo Flitwick, who are now unbeaten in their last five outings.

Stefan Tormic and Jonti Neal were on the home scoresheet against a brace in reply from Josh Pearson.
