FOOTBALL: Beds County League report

Having lost their last three Premier Division supported by Sportsform home games, Shefford Town & Campton returned to form with a 2-1 victory over league leaders AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College.

Andrew Hayday (55) opened the scoring before Sundeep Gill levelled matters for the league leaders 15 minutes later only for Hayday to net the home winner in the closing stages.

Renhold United climbed up to fourth with a 3-2 home win over Sharnbrook in a game switched to the 3G surface at Hillgrounds.

Jason Allison, Andy Smith and Jonny Richens netted for United against replies via Matt Kent and Matt Woodhouse.Caldecote remain firmly rooted in the bottom two after going down 4-0 at Ickwell & Old Warden. James Godfrey netting a hat-trick and Conor Green on target.

In Division One, Sundon Park Rangers missed the chance to return to the top when beaten 3-1 at home by a Shefford Town & Campton Reserve’s side winning for the first time in seven away outings. Jordan Robbens, Jordan Darocha and Tim Andrews netting the vital goals against a home reply from Matthew Conway.

In the only other game to beat the weather, Elstow Abbey ran out 7-1 home winners over Woburn Lions.

Ahead in the third minute via Myles Ferraro they were to double their lead in the 18th minute with a strike from Ed L’Erario before Daniel McLaren pulled one back from the spot.

The second half belonged to the Abbey though as Dave McCarthy made it 3-1, before Harlem Sambu took centre stage with a 14-minute hat-trick with an own goal completing the rout.

In Division Two, the shock of the day saw league leaders Potton Town lose their season’s unbeaten away record when beaten 4-1 at Great Barford.

It was the Town who took the lead via Chris Cooper in the third minute until a David Mulvihill penalty (12) levelled matters, while Sam Queeley then put them ahead on the half hour.

Barford then assured victory with second half goals from Owen Layton (54) and substitute Jordan Morrison (74).

The biggest winners of the day were AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves who recorded their first league win in six outings with a 7-4 victory over Kings AFC.

Paul Garrett and Ashley Phelan both nettted twice to go alongside single strikes from John Shittu, Humbento Ybonazo and Tom Marvin against visiting replies from Oli Plested, Chris Greene, Marcus Tomlin and Adam Jacques.

Elsewhere there was a 3-1 home win for Co-Op Sports over Renhold United Reserves, Jack Magill with a brace plus Luke Blackburn on the home scoresheet with United’s Michael Blackman replying.

Stevington moved within two points of Division Three leaders Meltis Albion when they recorded their fifth home win on the bounce with a 5-0 victory over basement side AFC Bush.

Alex Smith, Ben Walsh, Aaron Fletcher, Gorgio Lamura and Ben Holyoak all finding the back of the net.

Westoning climbed into third after their 10-0 win at Kempston Con Club Sports.

Nick Shirley (4), Tom Cooksley (3), plus Shaun Cooksley, Glen Cooksley and Glen Robinson all on target.

In Division Four Clapham Sports are now up to third after their fourth consecutive win, defeating Atletico Europa 5-2.

Brad Winton bagged a hat-trick, while Neil Larman notched two, against replies via Brad Harris and Jonti Neal.

Shefford Town & Campton A remain rooted to the bottom spot after losing 5-3 at Flitwick Town Reserves.

Craig Phillips scored a treble, while Tom Pool hit two, with Pete Saunders (2) and Shaun Jenkins replying.

Also going nap were Moggerhanger United with a 5-1 win over Caldecote A. Luke Rudd with a brace, plus goals from Paul Young, James Price and Jason Kinns against a lone reply from Matt Basta.
