FA Trophy final moved forward to help manage fixtures

HATTERS: The FA Carlsberg Trophy final for the 2012-13 season has been moved away from its traditional May weekend slot and forward to Sunday, March 24.

The change is designed to help clubs manage their fixtures as the non-League season draws to a conclusion.

Charlie Clapham, chairman of the FA Trophy Committee, said: “The FA Carlsberg Trophy comprises clubs in the Football Conference, Northern Premier, Southern and Isthmian Leagues and this change allows the showpiece Final to be played at Wembley Stadium and away from the end of season play-off schedules.

“As a consequence, the preceding rounds have also had to be brought forward accordingly and the competition will now commence on Saturday September, 15, 2012.”

Town enter the competition at the first round proper stage, scheduled for Saturday, November 24.

The second round is scheduled for December 15, the third for January 12, the fourth for January 26 and the two legged sem-finals for February 16 and 23.
