Elstow book their place in charity cup final

It was game over for the men from The Green when L’Erario added his second of the night 20 minutes into the second period.

And the Abbey sealed their victory right on the final whistle when Travis Joseph treated the crowd to the goal of the game from some 35 yards out to make it 4-0.

Down at The Carlsberg Stadium, hosts Dunton face a Renhold United side that are now unbeaten in their last 11 league outings. Whilst at Jubilee Playing Fields, Wilshamstead will be looking for just their fourth home win of the season against an AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College side who have won just once in their last seven league outings.

The final top-flight action coming at Lodge Road,the venue at which hosts Sharnbrook entertain Blunham whose lone away win of the season came at Dunton back in mid-December.

In Division One the title/promotion race now looks down to a four club affair and this weekend just one of the quartet enjoy home advantage.That club being league leaders Ickwell & Old Warden who on The Green defend their seasons unbeaten home ways against the rapidly improving Meltis Albion who hit the road looking for their third away win on the bounce.

For second place Marston Shelton Rovers, it’s a trip to Harvey Close looking to extend their current unbeaten away ways up to eight games against hosts Caldecote Reserves who have failed to win any of the last five league outings. Whilst third place Lidlington United Sports now unbeaten in their last 13 league outings it’s a trip to Mowsbury Park to face the unpredictable FC Meppershall.

The fourth promotion candidates are Bedford Sports Athletic, for them the destination is Bedford Road Recreation Ground and a meeting with hosts Sandy.The home side having failed to win any of their last five league outings to drop out of the promotion race looking to end Athletic’s unbeaten away ways for the season.

Other action comes at Hillgrounds, the venue at which AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves seek only their third home win of the season against a Henlow side that has lost just three times on the road this season.

The final action in this division coming at Pirton Recreation Ground, the venue at which Lea Sports PSG now unbeaten in their last nine outings host Kings AFC whose sole away win of the season came at Westoning back in mid-January.

In Division Two, league leaders Elstow Abbey will be defending their season’s unbeaten ways at The Warren against Co-op Sports.Whilst second place AFC Turvey, still with a 100% away record this season journey the short distance to Oakley Playing Fields to be hosted by M & DH Oakley.

Whilst meeting for the second consecutive weekend will be Bromham United and Sundon Park Rangers, with hosts United looking to avenge their Jubilee Cup defeat in Stockwood Park last weekend.

Elsewhere at Second Meadow, Clifton without a home win since beating Great Barford in mid-November play host to a Pavenham side who are now unbeaten in their last eight outings. Whilst in Mowsbury Park, Queens Park Crescents will start the firm favourites to collect the full three points when paid a visit by bottom table Great Barford.

The final game in this section taking place at The Luton Regional Sports Centre where hosts Stopsley Park search out home number three on the bounce against the visiting Potton United Reserves who are now unbeaten in their four league trips away from The Hollow.

In Division Three the championship/promotion race is perhaps still a six club affair with just two of them this weekend enjoying home advantage, for Renhold Village that means a visit from fellow championship contenders Riseley Sports to their Renhold Playing Field headquarters in what is the division’s game of the day.

Whilst Stevington, now on a five game winning home run entertain Potton Town at their own Playing Field headquarters.

Of those hitting the road, Goldington now unbeaten in their last four away outings journey to Steppingly Road to face bottom table Flitwick Town Reserves who look to end a run of five consecutive home defeats.

Whilst for Cranfield United Reserves now unbeaten in their last 11 trips away from Crawley Road, the destination is Cutler Hammer and a meeting against a Kempston Hammers Sports side that looks to take its unbeaten home ways up to five games.

The fifth promotion contender being Eastcotts AFC, they make their way to Hillgrounds to face a Royal Oak Kempston side that has won just the once on home soil all season.
