Eagles snap up former Toffees U21 starlet

Bedford Town have signed former Everton U21 starlet Femi Orenuga on a dual registration from National League South side Wealdstone.

The 23-year-old made history in November 2008 when he became Southend United’s youngest ever player, when aged just 15, he came on for the Shrimpers’ FA Cup clash against Luton Town.After impressing at Roots Hall, Orenuga penned a three year professional contract with Premier League giants Everton, where he was a regular for the Toffees’ U21s.

During his time at Goodison Park, he joined Notts County on loan, playing twice, before being released from the Merseyside club in May 2012.

Orenuga then went to Sweden, signing a two year deal with AFC United, returning to England where he had a brief spell with Whitehawk, and then heading to Norway to play for Raufoss.

He then came back join Gloucester City, before moving to Wealdstone and made his debut for Eagles as a 74th minute substitute in their 1-0 defeat against Ware on Saturday.
