Competition to get girls on their bikes for Cycletta

WHEN you think of competitive cycling you might picture those muscley men in their fancy gear belting along country lanes at 100mph. Serious and streamlined, they are enough to put off anyone who hasn’t ridden a bike since their childhood from getting back in the saddle, and as for competing in a cycling event – what a terrifying thought!

However, as the hundreds of women who took part in Cycletta last year will testify, this doesn’t have to be the case.

At Cycletta, it’s all about sisterhood, and taking on the cycling challenge together.

From the camaraderie at the start line, to the whooops and giggles as you get on your way, and the cheers from your fellow cyclists as you huff and puff the last few miles together, it’s less of an intimidating competition and more of a fun day out in the fresh air with friends old and new.

The women-only cycling events are taking place across the country, and Cycletta Bedfordshire is on May 13 in the stunning setting of Woburn Abbey.

It’s perfect for first-time cyclists who can take on the easily achievable 40km, as well as those looking for more of a challenge with the 60km route.

Cycletta bike rides are fronted by Olympic Gold Medallist Victoria Pendleton and are aimed at all levels of cyclists.
