Carl Mensah marked his return to Bedford Town with a goal, but it wasn't enough to stop them crashing 3-1 at home to Barwell on Saturday.

Mensah was captain last season, helping guide Eagles to promotion, before a summer move to Enfield Town, which has not worked out for him as he missed Bedford too much.

But a depleted Eagles, missing five players, went behind after just five minutes when a cross into the home box was well finished by Deen Master.

Barwell's defence stood strong until the 36th minute when a corner was met by Mensah's looping header into the net to level.

Despite home pressure, Barwell retook the lead on 76 minutes as a cut back ball across the box saw Ethan Hill fire home. In the dying minutes, Bedford committed too many bodies forward and were punished by a third from Riley Moloney.
