Blunham lose unbeaten home record

Second place Shefford Town & Campton won 3-1 at Blunham to end the hosts 100 per cent home record. Carl Thripp put Shefford ahead after just five minutes while Andrew Hayday doubled it ten minutes into the second period. Kier Banghard then gave the home supporters hope when he reduced the arrears ten minutes later but a Chris Clark strike two minutes from time wrapped up the points.

Taking their unbeaten ways up to four games and holding onto third are Arlesey Town Reserves. They won 3-1 at Dunton with Mark Ellis netting two and Sam Dunn one against a lone reply from James Cooper.

Up into fourth are Bedford Hatters who maintained their season’s unbeaten away record with a fourth successive win, 4-2 at Oakley Sports. The result also ends the host’s unbeaten home Premier Division record. Mark Reed (two), Simon Pixley and Scott Alleyne were the Hatters scorers against replies from Stuart Kelly and Mark Smith.

Also enjoying life on the road were AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College with a 4-2 victory at bottom of the table Woburn. Tom Marvin (two), Paul Obuch and Daniel Church were the Town marksmen against a brace in reply from Martin Holland.

At Lodge Road, Sharnbrook and Wilshamstead played out a 2-2 draw with Ryan Massey and Jayme Harris on the home scoresheet against replies from Colin Marshall and Bradley Smith.

Division One

WITH leaders Lidlington United Sports sitting the afternoon out, Ickwell & Old Warden looked certain to take over at the top after strikes from Lee Threadgold, Zak Rowe and an Andrew Vallom penalty saw them 3-0 up at half time against Bedford Sports Athletic. But the visitors hit back with a brace from Ashley Mead (including one from the penalty spot) and a strike from Joe Bridge to hold on to their season’s unbeaten away record and fourth place in the table.

It means the new Division One leaders are Marston Shelton Rovers thanks to a 3-2 win at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Alan Cudjoe, Jim Burraway and Daniel Bullen were on the Rovers scoresheet against Town replies from Sam Phillips and Paul Garratt.

Holding onto fifth spot are Sandy who made it four wins on the bounce with a 4-3 success at Luton Boys. Mark Jennings, Phill Beale, Chris Nicholls and Ian Hammett netted the goals against home replies from Metin Bayram (two) and Kyle Ross.

Also winning on the road were Westoning. They claimed their first win of the season 2-0 at Meltis Albion to lift themselves off the bottom. An own goal plus a strike from Alex Smith did the damage.

Henlow and Lea Sports PSG shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw at Groveside with Russell Ayles (two) and Neil Spence hitting the net for Henlow against PSG replies via an own goal plus Ryan Woolfe and Ian Hyde.

The scheduled fixture at Harvey Close between Caldecote Reserves and FC Meppershall being postponed after the visitors were earlier in the week placed under league suspension for non-payment of fines.

Division Two

ELSTOW Abbey’s lead in Division Two is up to two points after they maintained their season’s 100 per cent home record with a hard fought 3-2 win over a Potton United Reserves outfit who twice came from behind to very nearly spoil that perfect record. Ed L’Erario (two, including a penalty), Danny Pilgrim were on the home scoresheet against United replies from Sam Worthington and Sam Bonham.

Abbey’s lead increased due to AFC Turvey being held to a 2-2 home draw by Pavenham. An own goal plus a strike from Mike Stephenson were cancelled out by visitors replies from James Owen and Tom Rodger.

Now sitting in third spot are Sundon Park Rangers, they with goals from Nicky Buttergeig and Matt Conway ended Co-op Sports unbeaten home ways for the season with a 2-1 victory. Andrew Randell the lone home marksman.

However, the biggest winners of the day were Queens Park Crescents who netted a 7-0 victory at bottom of the table Great Barford. Ayaz Hussain twice plus strikes from Shezad Satter, Shahinur Rahman, Menrbaan Hussain, Jahangir Ahmed and Tim Gill dishing out the rout.

Over at Second Meadow, Clifton went down to their sixth consecutive defeat when beaten by Shefford Town & Campton Reserves who with a brace of goals from Steve Gay won 2-0 to claim their first away win of the season.

Following three straight home defeats,Stopsley Park returned to winning ways with a 2-1 success over Marabese Ceramics, Stuart Lyons and Steven Laird netting the goals which were only replied to by Denver Donaldson.

Elsewhere, Bromham United ran out 1-0 home winners over M & DH Oakley thanks to a goal from Reuben Hukin.

Division Three

IT’S as you were at the top of the division three league table after both the leading two clubs came up with victories. For league leaders Goldington, it was win number five on the bounce with a 2-1 victory at Sundon Park Rangers Colts, Justin Muircroft and Brian Day netting the vital goals against a home reply from Robert Smith.

For second place Stevington, it was an 8-1 home romp over second from bottom of the table Dunton Reserves, John Devereux netting four times, Kevin Lake twice plus Steff Watts and Aaron Fletcher against a lone reply from Richard Vale.

Now in third spot are Cranfield United Reserves despite being held to a 2-2 draw away at Riseley Sports, Dan Cockerton and Adam Kerr on the United scoresheet against home replies via George Crawley and Paul Brown.

United taking over third place after Renhold Village were beaten 2-1 at Wilshamstead Reserves, John Steele and Keiron Colclough claiming the goals to give their side a first home win of the season against a Village reply from Mo Banda.

Things got no better for bottom of the table Flitwick Town Reserves, Town going down to their eighth consecutive defeat when beaten 5-2 at Westoning Reserves. Gareth White twice plus Chris Rogers, Steve Bernat and Robert Masters on the home scoresheet against Town replies from Matt Brady-Scott and Kevin Higby.

Elsewhere Potton Town returned to winning ways for the first time in six outings with a 3-2 home win over Kempston Hammers Sports. Chris Moore twice plus Nick Gilbert netting the Town’s goals against Hammers replies via Jazz Sohal and Jason Beddall.

Division Four

FOR league leaders Bedford Park Rangers, it was a retention of their season’s perfect 100 per cent away record with a 4-0 victory at start of play second place Marsh Leys who were suffering their first defeat of the season.

Shaun Finlay twice plus Mark Reynolds and Josh Geary netting the goals to leave the Rangers now six points clear of new second place club Thurleigh who maintained their 100 per cent away record for the season by winning 5-2 at Stewartby Village. David Murvihill twice plus Salvatore Ventriglia, Steve Pledge and Josh Pierre St Clair netting the goals, against Village replies from Ban Sparks and Kyle Smith.

Also enjoying life on the road were Wootton Village, they took their unbeaten ways up to four games with a 1-0 win at Bedford Panthers, thanks to a goal from Ryan Stocker and joining in on the away day fun were Sandy Reserves who ran out 3-0 victors at bottom of the table Dunton ‘A’. Jonnie Stratford, Peter Rogan and Ryan Burgess netting the goals to take Sandy’s unbeaten away record up to four games.

The fifth away winners were Kempston Athletic who claimed their opening win on the road this season by beating Goldington Hammers 3-1, Dee Sayid, Tory Bossendorfer and Sam Fuller seeing their goals only replied to by Jimmy Jacob.

Elsewhere the lone home winners were Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’ with a 2-1 win over Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves to take their unbeaten ways up to four games, Wayne Hauxton and Daniel Cullerton on the mark against an Ickwell reply via Matthew McCartney.

Meantime, Caldecote ‘A’ are still unbeaten on home soil this season and likewise Clifton Reserves still unbeaten on the road after the sides shared the points in a 2-2 draw at Harvey Close. Jordan Goodman and an own goal were on the home scoresheet against Clifton replies from Chris Mattingley and Tony Norman.
