Beds League weekend round-up

AFC Oakley Sports M&DH will now travel in round two to face Shillington after running out 3-0 winners at Shefford Town & Campton. Ahead in the 11th minute thanks to a strike from Ian Strange, the tie was sealed in the second period when first Rhys Allen netted in the 66th minute and with his first touch of the game substitute Mark Smith headed home the final goal three minutes later.

For Renhold United, it was a 2-1 defeat at United Counties League club Potton United. Ahead via Kegan Roberts in the 20th minute, the hosts were to draw level via James Derrryman 19 minutes from time and gained victory when Brett Wyman slotted home a 90th minute penalty.

Going even closer were AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College who were beaten 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out at South Midlands League Arlesey Town Reserves after 90 minutes play had seen the tie all square at 3-3. Danny Pilgrim with a brace and John Guiney on the Town scoresheet.

Alas for Flitwick Town, it was a 2-11 home defeat at the hands of South Midlands League Crawley Green despite goals from Daniel Stafford and Callum Jones.

Lidlington United Sports missed the chance to regain the top spot in the league table when their 100% home record was blown away in a 4-0 defeat against near neighbours Marston Shelton Rovers. Jamie Cerminara, Keith Thomas, Alan Henman and Ashley Rigby netting the Rovers goals.

Whilst Shillington extend their unbeaten ways to five games and climbed to third spot in the table by sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Wilstead. Alex Toye on their scoresheet against a home reply from Paul Jones.

At the other end of the table, Wootton Blue Cross gained their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 home win over Ickwell & Old Warden. Matt Gurney and Joe O’Donnell netting the vital goals against a lone reply from David Stevens.

There was also an opening win of the season for Pavenham in winning 6-3 at bottom of the table Sharnbrook. James Owen netting five times and Tom Ellis once against home replies from Ben Singleton, Jordan Baxter and Chris Prior.

Division One

The clash of the day in division one saw league leaders Goldington make it five wins on the bounce to maintain their seasons 100% ways with a 3-0 victory at second place Sandy thanks to a hat-trick from Chris Huckle. This defeat dropping the hosts down into fifth place following wins for Sundon Park Rangers, Woburn Lions and AFC Turvey.

Rangers taking over the second spot when retaining their 100% home ways with a 3-0 win over Eastcotts AFC. Matt Conway twice and Luke Evans once netting the goals. Whilst up into third place are The Lions who won 4-3 at home against Elstow Abbey, Antony Kostlw twice plus Aaron Ripley and Robert Williams on their scoresheet and now in fourth place are AFC Turvey who ran out 2-1 home winners over Bromham United to preserve their seasons 100% ways.Courtney Broughton and Josh Spavins seeing their goals only replied to by Jahrome Mullings.

Elsewhere, Bedford Sports Athletic returned to winning ways with a 3-0 home success over Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Simon Pixley with a brace plus Richard Cook netting the goals to do the damage.

Meantime at Harvey Close, visitors Luton Boys Seniors found themselves down to 10 men after Kamona Banda was red carded just 10 minutes into the contest against hosts Caldecote Reserves and at half-time they trailed the home side 2-0 after strikes from Kai Griffiths-Shilton and Spencer Melrose, however they were to eventually run out 5-3 winners.Nashon Bennet with a hat-trick and Mick O’Hanolan with a brace seeing their second half goals only replied to once by Jordan Goodman.

Whilst Marabese Ceramics and Henlow shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Ricky Bruniges on the home scoresheet and Ben Smith netting for the visitors.

Division Two

There is no change at the head of the division two standings following victories for the leading three sides. League leaders Queens Park Crescents making it five wins from five outings when goals from Luther Prince and Shezad Sattar against an own goal in reply saw them win 2-1 at Riseley Sports. Whilst second place Potton United Reserves made it four from four with a 3-1 victory at Great Barford. Josh Everritt-Watson, Lee Adams and Callum Scott on their scoresheet against a lone home reply from William King.

Meantime third place Potton Town remain unbeaten after winning 5-2 at Co-op Sports. James Pyman with a hat-trick plus strikes from Marcus Tait and Chris Moore bringing up the nap hand against home replies via Thomas Miller and Dean Garlick.

Alas for AFC Oakley Sports M&DH Reserves it was an end to their seasons 100% ways when beaten 1-0 at home by Cranfield United for whom Adam Kerr netted the vital goal.

Elsewhere after a run of three defeats AFC Harlington gained their first away points of the season when a Scott Gadsden goal took them to a 1-0 victory at Clifton and Kings AFC came up with their first win of the season in a 4-1 home victory over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Tyrome Kelly with a brace plus Chaz Martin and Jhey Tompkins on their scoresheet against a Town reply from John Shittu.

Division Three

The clash of the day between the top two sides was to go the way of the league leaders Meltis Albion who in gaining a 2-1 home victory over Bedford Panthers now increase their lead at the head of the league table up to six points. Calum Stuart netting both goals against a Panthers reply from Tom Wade.

This defeat dropping The Panthers to fourth spot in the league table following wins for Stevington and Wilstead Reserves. Stevington taking over second place after winning 5-3 at AFC Bush, Ben Walsh with a brace plus strikes from Sam Nightingale, Gavin White and Dan Probert bringing up the nap hand against home replies via Paul Raymond twice and Alex Grieve.

For now third place Wilstead Reserves it was a 3-2 win at bottom of the table Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves. Simon Jenkins, Rob Booth and Richie Andrews all finding the back of the net against home replies from Darren Wheatley and Malcom Marimirola.

Over at Greenfield Road it was a sharing of the spoils for hosts Westoning and Kempston Con Club Sports in a 3-3 draw. Jason Newsham with a brace and Ian Cooksley on the mark for the home side against replies from Vincent Clark, Ryan Collis and James Coates. Also sharing the spoils were Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves and Kempston Athletic in a 0-0 stalemate.

Whilst at Cutler Hammer, Kempston Hammers Sports emerged 3-1 winners over Clifton Reserves for their first win of the season. Martin Bennett, Lee Hudson and Alex Pullinger seeing their goals only replied to by Andy Harvey.

Division Four

There is no change at the head of the division four standings following victories for the leading three sides. At the head of the table FC Houghton remain a point clear after winning 5-2 at Dinamo Flitwick. Lawrence Taylor and Shaun Fairy both netting twice alongside Mark Doran against home replies from Dominic Loadman and Scott Hannam. Whilst second place Wootton Village were 4-1 home winners over Sandy Reserves, Darren Mason, Valiant Mudokwani and Kudzi Madzivanyika plus a Nick Burraway penalty marking their card against a lone reply from Nicky Albone.

For third place Meltis Albion Reserves it was a 3-2 victory at bottom of the table Bedford Park Rangers. Josh St Clair Pierre with a brace plus Craig Damon goals being replied to by an own goal plus a strike from Tony Anyanwu.

Also enjoying life on the road to move up into fourth place were Clapham Sports with a 3-1 win at Atletico Europa. Mario Esposito netting twice and Nicholas Sepede once against a lone home reply from Raiqwan Joseph.

Whilst Cranfield United Reserves maintained their season unbeaten home ways with a 2-1 win over Mid Beds Tigers. Dan Cockerton plus a Chris Patrickson penalty getting the better of a single reply from Jack Willis.
