Beds League weekend preview

The spotlight of the league programme this weekend falls upon the trio of games that will make up the 2nd Annual Bedfordshire County Football League Hop. It all starts at Marston Playing Fields at 10.30am when Marston Shelton Rovers will be defending their seasons 100% home record against a Shefford Town & Campton side which will hit the road looking for its first away points of the season and fully aware The Rovers turned them over on their own Rectory Road just a month ago.

Action then moves on to a 1.45pm kick off at Pavenham Playing Fields between Pavenham and Caldecote, the hosts looking for their first home point/points of the season in this game number three, whilst the visitors hit the road for the third time this campaign looking for their first away point/points of the season.

The concluding game coming just down the road with a 4.20pm kick off between AFC Oakley Sports M&DH and Wilstead. The hosts looking to maintain their seasons unbeaten ways against a Wilstead side who are more than capable of collecting the full three points themselves.

Away from The Hop there are four other Premier Division supported by Sportsform fixtures which will kick off at the normal 2.30pm. On The Green, in this their seventh league outing of the campaign, Ickwell & Old Warden will commence their 2013-14 home season with a visit from top of the table AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College who will hit the road looking for league win number six on the bounce to retain their seasons 100% way.

Going for their fourth league win on the bounce will be Flitwick Town, for them its a home Redborne School outing against bottom of the table Sharnbrook. Whilst at Renhold Playing Fields, hosts Renhold United will look to end a two game losing home run when called upon by a Wootton Blue Cross side who are yet to win on the road this season and at Hurst Grove, second place Lidlington United take on third place Shillington who hit the road now unbeaten in their last five outings.

The top game in division one brings a clash at The Alexander Sports Centre between hosts and still 100% league leaders Goldington and the visiting second place Sundon Park Rangers who will hit the road looking to take their current unbeaten ways up to six games. Also hitting the road will be third place Woburn Lions, for them its a trip to Weston Park looking to preserve their seasons 100% record on the road against hosts Eastcotts AFC who will go into the fixture still with a 100% home record for the season.

Still holding down a 100% seasons record are AFC Turvey and for them its a trip to The Warren to face still unbeaten at home Elstow Abbey. Whilst after last weekends home defeat Sandy will look to retain their seasons unbeaten away ways when they make the short trip to Groveside to take on hosts Henlow .

Over at Chaul End Lane, Luton Boys Seniors are now unbeaten in their last three starts receive a visit from a Marabese Ceramics side who will be in search of their first away point/points of the campaign, A comment that also applies to Bedford Athletic when they hit the road for a Bromham Playing Fields outing against hosts Bromham United.

Elsewhere, looking for their first home point/points of the season will be Shefford Town & Campton Reserves when they take on a yet to win on the road this season Brickhill Tigers at their Rectory Road base.

With league leaders Queens Park Crescents sitting the afternoon out, second place Potton United Reserves could draw level on points with them at the head of the table should they gain the full three points for what is the match of the day in division two when they head for a local derby clash at Mill Lane against still unbeaten hosts and third place Potton Town.

For still 100% on the road fourth place AFC Oakley Sports M&DH Reserves its a trip on the road to third from bottom of the table Great Barford. Whilst fifth place Cranfield United entertain eighth place Clifton at their Crawley Road base firm favourites to collect the spoils.

Other action coming at King George VI Playing Fields, the venue at which Kings AFC host Co-op Sports who travel in search of their first away point/points of the season. Whilst at Gold Street, bottom of the table Riseley Sports look for their first point/points of the campaign when visited by an AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves side who look for their first away point/points of the season.

Also looking for their first away point/points of the season will be Renhold United Reserves when they head for a New Grounds Harlington outing against hosts AFC Harlington.

In Division Three the top clash of the day comes at Stevington Playing Fields where second place hosts Stevington still 100% after three starts take on the 100% league leaders Meltis Albion who hit the road looking for their sixth win on the bounce. Whilst at Jubilee Playing Fields, third place Wilstead Reserves receive a visit from a Elstow Abbey Reserves side looking for their first away point/points of the campaign.

Over at The Hockey Centre, Bedford Panthers are 100% for the season whilst their visitors Kempston Athletic have to date drawn both of their away outings. Whilst at Hillgrounds, Kempston Con Club Sports will be expected to collect all three points when called upon by bottom of the table Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves who remain the only side in this division to yet collect a point this season.

Elsewhere over at Cutler Hammer, Kempston Hammers Sports entertain a Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves side who are yet to collect any points on the road this season and at Whiston Crescent, after three straight away defeats Clifton Reserves will hope to return to winning ways against the visiting Westoning.

In Division Four for unbeaten league leaders FC Houghton its a home Moore Crescent encounter with yet to win and third from bottom of the table Flitwick Town Reserves. Whilst second place Wootton Village head for Sandye Place Academy outing against Mid Beds Tigers.

Just down the road at Bedford Road Recreation Ground, its a home outing for still 100% at home Sandy Reserves against still 100% away Dinamo Flitwick and just up the A603 at Moggerhanger Playing Fields, also still 100% at home hosts Moggerhanger United receive a visit from a Cranfield United Reserves side looking for its first away point/points of the season.

Other action coming at Harrowden Middle School, the venue at which second from bottom of the table Atletico Europa hosts bottom of the table Bedford Park Rangers with both clubs looking for their first win of the season and at Digswell Playing Fields, where Shefford Town & Campton A host a Clapham Sports side looking for its third away win on the bounce.
