Beds League midweek round-up

Caldecote will face Ampthill Town Reserves in the final of this season’s Biggleswade Knockout Cup following their home penalty shoot-out win over Dunton on Tuesday.

On Wednesday in Division One, Ickwell & Old Warden took another step towards the division one crown by claiming their tenth win on the bounce with a 2-0 victory at Caldecote Reserves.

Steve Thomas and Andrew Vallom netting the goals that sent their hosts to their fifth consecutive home defeat.

Elstow Abbey are the 2011-12 season Division Two champions after their retain their season’s unbeaten ways with a 1-0 home win over Pavenham all thanks to a 72nd minute penalty from Travis Joseph, plus the fact that second place AFC Turvey were beaten 2-0 at Queens Park Crescents.

Jatinder Bhangle and Meharban Hussain netting the goals to give The Crescents their first home win in five outings.

For Marabese Ceramics, it was a 5-4 away win at M & DH Oakley. Lewis Littlechild netting twice alongside single goals for Ricky Bruniges, Lou Marabese and Romano Marabese. Whilst despite a goal from Amit Patel, Potton United Reserves were beaten for the first time in four home outings when defeated 3-1 by Sundon Park Rangers who now move up into fifth place in the league table. Andrew Fox netting twice and Matthew Conway once to do the damage.

Cranfield United Reserves are the 2011-12 season Division Three champions following their 4-0 home win over Royal Oak Kempston, Jim Armstrong, Dan Cockerton, Stuart Pearce and Josh Whetmore netting the goals to do the damage.

Having lost their last four outings Wilshamstead Reserves returned to form with a bang via a 8-0 home win over Riseley Sports, Liam Philip leading the way with a hat-trick and supported by single strikes from Harry Baker, John Steele, Chris McGurn, Jay Hall and Matt Johnson.

Elsewhere, Sundon Park Rangers Colts netted their fifth away win on the bounce with a 3-0 victory over Sundon Park Rangers Colts. Michael Brunton opening the scoring after 33 minutes before a brace of goals in the second half from Kevin Hilton added to the total.

Bedford Park Rangers claimed their eighth Division Four win on the bounce and took a massive step forward to the division four league crown with a 5-4 home victory over second place Marsh Leys who not only lost their seasons unbeaten away ways but were defeated for the first time in 16 outings.

Martin Danobrega with a hat-trick plus George Pinney and Shaun Finlay on the Rangers scoresheet against replies from Alex Clipson twice plus David Powell and Ashley Tracey.

For third place Thurleigh, it was a 4-2 home win over Badford Panthers. Josh Pierre St Claire and Steve Pledge both netting twice against replies from Guldeep Dosanth and Gary Philpson.
