Beds County League Preview

Preview for Saturday, September 17

On this week number three of the Bedfordshire County Football League season, the Premier Division supported by Sportsform action sees a programme of seven games where home wins may be at a premium. The only real “banker home win” perhaps being at Harvey Close where Caldecote host Wilshamstead, but the visitors have been known to cause the odd upset or two, thus nothing is guaranteed.

All of the other six games looking difficult to call, Oakley Sports perhaps starting the slight favourites to collect the full three points when they host Blunham at their Playing Field headquarters, a comment that also applies to Bedford Hatters who host Arlesey Town Reserves at Miller Road and to Shefford Town & Campton who venture to Steppingley Road to be entertained by Flitwick Town.

Yet the other three encounters have stalemate written right across them.Dunton hosting AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College at The Carlsberg Stadium; Potton Wanderers receiving a visit from Renhold United at Mill Lane; plus the Crawley Road clash between hosts Woburn and their visitors Sharnbrook.

The Division One action brings about a likewise programme of seven games, all of which could go either way or more than likely ended in stalemate.

There looks on paper cracker of games at Greenfield Road where Westoning host Marston Shelton Rovers and at Pirton Recreation Ground, the venue for Lea Sports PSG’s home encounter with Sandy. Whilst one would never put anyone off a visit to Hurst Grove for the clash between hosts Lidlington United Sports and Kings AFC.

For games with a local flavour, then the choice is threefold, at Groveside, Henlow host Ickwell & Old Warden; in Mowsbury Park, FC Meppershall play hosts to Caldecote Reserves, whilst Hillgrounds is the venue for the game between AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves and Meltis Albion.

The seventh and final game coming at Chaul End Lane where Bedford Sports Athletic hit the road for a meeting with Luton Boys.

However, the programme of seven games in Division Two look much easier to call.Home wins looking to be the more likely outcome of four of the contests, at Solway Way North, where Co-op Sports host Bromham United; at The Warren, where M& DH Oakley travel to for their meeting with hosts Elstow Abbey; In Mowsbury Park, where Pavenham will be expected to collect the points at home against Marabese Ceramics and in Stockwood Park, the venue for Sundon Park Rangers home clash with Queens Park Crescents.

The other three games all perhaps favouring the visitors, AFC Turvey on route to Second Meadow to be hosted by Clifton; Potton United Reserves make their way to face Great Barford at their Playing Field headquarters and Stopsley Park hitting the road for a Rectory Road meeting with Shefford Town & Campton Reserves.

The game of the day in Division Three on paper looks to be either the Weston Park clash between hosts Eastcotts AFC and their visitors Goldington,or The Jubilee Playing Fields clash between Wilshamstead Reserves and Sundon Park Rangers Colts, both clashes could go either way. But don’t tell that to Stevington or Westoning Reserves who go head to head at Stevington Playing Fields.

Of the other four games, you would fancy the home side to start favourites.Kempston Hammers Sports in Cutler Hammer action against Dunton Reserves; Potton Town hosting Royal Oak Kempston at Sunderland, Road, whilst over at Gold Street, Flitwick Town Reserves are to visitors to face Riseley Sports and at Renhold Playing Fields, Renhold Village entertain Dinamo Flitwick.

Division Four action comprises of a seven game programme, the stand out game perhaps being either the Mowsbury Park clash between hosts Bedford Park Rangers and their visitors Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves or The Stewartby Way encounter between Stewartby Village and their visitors Goldington Hammers.

Over at Keysoe Road, Thurleigh should start the favourites to collect the full three points when Caldecote A come calling, a comment that also applies at Horseshoes Close where Dunton A will be hosting Bedford Panthers.

For Sandy Reserves, it is home Bedford Road Recreation Ground action against local rivals Shefford Town & Campton A.Whilst at Whiston Crescent, Kempston Athletic are the visitors to face Clifton Reserves.

The seventh and final clash coming at Hinksley Road Recreation Ground between hosts Dinamo Flitwick Reserves and Marsh Leys who will perhaps start favourites for the points.

Action will then move on to Wednesday evening 21st September when at The Armadillo Stadium, Arlesey Town Reserves and Dunton go head to head in Premier Division supported by Sportsform action.
