Bedfordshire League: Wootton into Senior Trophy semis

Wootton Blue Cross put their poor league form behind them to make it into the last four of the Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy with a 5-0 win at Lidlington United Sports.

Nathan Mallett bagged a brace plus goals from Peter Gurney, Carl Ibbotson and Phil Matthews brought up the nap hand.

However despite opening the scoring in the 5th minute with a goal from Matt Atherton, Sharnbrook were 5-1 losers at South Midlands League 61 FC Luton.

Shillington proved to be no match for current holders Bedford who beat them 4-0 on their own Greenfields patch.

Premier Division supported by Sportsform

AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College missed the chance to take over the leadership of the Premier Division supported by Sportsform league table when beaten 3-1 at Pavenham for whom it was just their second home victory of the season.

Their goals came via a Tim Bowers brace plus a James Owen penalty - Danny Pilgrim. netted for AFC Kempston Town.

For fourth place Wilstead it was a 4-3 home defeat against sixth place AFC Oakley Sports M&DH. Luke Barnett, Shaun Barnett, Martin Danobrega and Dan Kelly were on the visitors’ scoresheet against home replies via Gregory Turnball, Adam Budek and Paul Jones.

It was also a good day on the road for Flitwick Town who won for the first time in six outings with a 2-1 victory at Caldecote.

Daniel Stafford and Liam Keane both netted in the opening half before Jack Boyd halved the deficit in the second period. Whilst just down the road on The Green, Ickwell & Old Warden retained their unbeaten home ways with a 3-0 win over Shefford Town & Campton. Lee Threadgold netting twice and Alex Ingham once to do the damage.

Division One

There is no change at the head of the division one league table following wins for the top four clubs.

For league leaders Sundon Park Rangers it was their fourth win on the bounce with a 4-0 victory at Woburn Lions who have now failed to win any of their last seven games.

Matt Conway bagged a brace and there were goals from Nick Buttigeig and Eddie Lewis.

Second place Goldington retained their unbeaten away ways with a 4-1 victory at Elstow Abbey. Glen Tumulty netted twice alongside single strikes from Antony Plaiter and Sheldon Washington against a lone home reply via Myles Ferraro.

Still unbeaten at home this season are third place AFC Turvey who claimed their own fourth win on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Sandy. Harry Ellis and Courtney Boughton netting the vital goals against a Phil Beall reply for the visitors.

Fourth place Eastcotts AFC also remain unbeaten on home soil this season as they took their current unbeaten ways up to eight games with a 3-0 victory over Brickhill Tigers. Ciaran Alexander netting twice and Tony Milioti once.

Now up into sixth are Henlow after they claimed their fifth consecutive win with a 3-0 success at bottom of the table Bromham United.

Jonathan Rowe, Andy Newton and Manjit Singh all found the back of the net.

Whilst now in second from bottom spot are Luton Boys Seniors after they lost 5-0 at Shefford Town & Campton Reserves to see their hosts jump above them in the league table. Tom Gallant with a brace plus strikes from Ryan Dobson, Adam Spoors and Ollie Morgan bringing up the nap hand.

Alas for Bedford Sports Athletic it was an end to their five game unbeaten home run when beaten 4-1 by Marabese Ceramics. The visitors well in command by half-time following goals from Marcello Marabese and Bradley Vooght being added to by a Giuseppe D’Angelo penalty to take them 3-0 ahead. Athletic gave themselves hope with a goal from Ashlee Banton in the opening minute of the second period but the games final goal was to come from D’Angelo four minutes from time.

Division Two

With league leaders Potton Town sitting the afternoon out their lead at the head of the table is now down to just a single point following AFC Oakley Sports M&DH Reserves 3-1 victory at Potton United Reserves. Keiran Souter netted twice and Jason Fleeting once against a lone United reply from Billy Albone.

Closing the gap also on the league leaders were both third place Queens Park Crescents and fourth place Clifton. For The Crescents it was a 2-1 win at Great Barford thanks to goals from Ayaz Hussain and Shahinur Rahman against a home reply from David Mulvhill.

Clifton claimed their third league win on the bounce with a 3-1 home victory over Co-op Sports. Tony Norman, Dan Ellis and Jeremy Wiseman all finding the back of the net against a lone reply from James McMulkin.

Also still very much in the promotion race are fifth place Kings AFC who claimed their third win on the bounce with a 1-0 win at AFC Harlington. Oli Plested netting the vital goal.

Down at the other end of the table, Riseley Sports now find themselves in bottom spot after being beaten 3-2 at Renhold United Reserves who thus duly climbed above them on goal difference in the league standings. Aaron Ram with a brace plus Shane Lewis on the home scoresheet against Sports replies via Paul Brown and Jordan Harris.

Elsewhere, Cranfield United ran out 4-0 home winners over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Phill Kempsell with a brace plus single strikes from Davis Adderson and James Armstrong doing the damage.

Division Three

League leaders Meltis Albion remain two points clear and still 100% at home this season following their 5-0 victory over Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves. Thomas Hughes, Daniel Smith, Adam Smith, Alex Clipston and Carl Townsend netted the goals to bring up the nap hand.

Whilst second place Stevington claimed their fourth home success on the bounce with a 6-2 victory over bottom of the table Clifton Reserves. Gavin White and Clinton Tatham both netting twice alongside goals for Jordan McMullen and Giorgio Lamura against replies from Andy Harvey and Elliot Mackay.

For third place Westoning it was an end to their seasons 100% away record when held to a 2-2 draw at Kempston Athletic. Gavin Matthews and Nicholas Ememe on the home scoresheet against replies from Ben Dashwood and Luke Cunniff.

Following a run of five games without a victory Kempston Con Club Sports returned to winning ways with a 3-0 home win over a Bedford Panthers side losing for the first time in six outings. James Coates, Michael Darnell and Vincent Clark all finding the back of the net.

Also returning to winning ways after three consecutive defeats were Wilstead Reserves who won 4-2 at Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves. Matthew Johnson with a brace plus goals from Richard Andrews and Luke Prietzel only being replied to by Lewis Howard and Nathan Evans for The Rovers.

Alas for second from bottom of the table AFC Bush, the failure to raise a side for their home encounter with Elstow Abbey Reserves means the visitors will be awarded the three points.

Division Four

For league leaders FC Houghton it was an end to their seasons 100% home record after they were held to a 3-3 draw by second place Meltis Albion Reserves who thus duly remain unbeaten on the road this season. Lawrence Taylor with a brace plus Mark Doran on the home scoresheet against Albion replies via Adam Cranny, Daniel Taylor and Kieran Walsh.

There was a shock 3-0 defeat for third place Wootton Village at fifth place Dinamo Flitwick. Josh Pearson, Jamie Burton and Ashley Bratt netting the goals. Whilst fourth place Cranfield United Reserves fell to an even more surprising 4-1 defeat at bottom of the table Flitwick Town Reserves. Kevin Higby and Benn Ward both netting twice against a lone reply from Ben Thompson.

The biggest scorers of the day were Bedford Park Rangers who took their unbeaten ways up to five games with a 7-3 win at second from bottom of the table Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Tony Anyanwu netting four times alongside single strikes from William Pinney, Jamie Hay and Mikel-Manuel Darkwah against Town replies via Pete Saunders twice and Wayne Haxton.

Also enjoying life on the road were Mid Beds Tigers who won 2-1 at Atletico Europa, George Hutson and Cameron Hall netting the vital goals against a lone reply from Mamun Rahman. Whilst Sandy Reserves are now unbeaten in their last five outings after claiming a 2-1 home win over Moggerhanger United to end the visitors four game winning away run. Michael Rushton netting both goals against a lone reply via Dean Hill.

Elsewhere, Clapham Sports with a 3-1 home victory over Caldecote A sent the visitors to their seventh consecutive away defeat. Liam Dolton, Neil Latham and Josh Emmerton netting the goals against a lone Gary Allum reply.
