Bedfordshire League round-up

Renhold United remain unbeaten away from home and top of the Premier Division after a 2-1 win at Oakley Sports. First half goals from Jason Allison and Sheldon Washington put them in the driving seat before Stuart Kelly netted for the hosts in the second period.

United’s lead is one of goal-difference only after Wilshamstead won 4-1 at Sharnbrook. Kevin Butler, Neville Allen, Paul Jones and Michael Taylor all found hit the net against a lone reply from Dan Billington.

With Blunham’s game at Hillgrounds against AFC Kempston Town frozen off, Shefford Town & Campton climbed into third spot following their 2-0 home win over Caldecote. Andrew Hayday opened the scoring on 68 minutes before Adam Larsen netted from the penalty spot 11 minutes later to double the scoreline. Larsen then got himself sent off for a second yellow card five minutes later.

With Leighton United’s home game at Stanbridge Road against Woburn also frozen off, the final Premier Division game saw Dunton and Flitwick Town share the spoils in a goalless draw at Horseshoes Close.

Beds Intermediate Cup

BEDFORD Hatters made their way into the hat for the Beds FA Intermediate Cup semi-final draw after two goals from Darek Jozwiak took them to a 2-0 home win over Luton District & South Beds League outfit St Joseph’s. But it was the end of the road for Marston Shelton Rovers who were beaten 1-0 at Molten Spartan South Midlands League outfit Stotfold Reserves.

Division One

WITH their two main rivals away on County Cup duty, Potton Wanderers stretched their lead at the head of the league table to six points when they secured a seventh win on the bounce 5-1 at home over bottom of the table Luton Old Boys.Sam Worthington twice plus Danny Fox, Antony Schurek and Jesse Mayo netting the goals against a lone reply from Leroy White.

Going one better were fourth place Meltis Albion in a 6-0 home victory over AFC Kempston Town Reserves, Derek McCrae, Daniel Wells, Alex Goosby, Asa Garlick, Charlie Betts and Salvatore Ventriglia all making a mark on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere,FC Meppershall continued their recent winning ways by sending Henlow to only their second home defeat of the season with a 7-1 victory at Groveside. Benjamin Williams striking five times and Christian Robinson twice to do the damage against a lone home reply from Adam Cavell.

For Caldecote Reserves, after two straight home defeats, it was a return to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Bedford Sports Athletic.Terry Lawrence bagging a goal in each half to secure the points.

Whilst Blunham Reserves came up with their first win in four home outings,

2-1 over local rivals Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves. Andrew Vallom netting both goals against a reply from Matthew McCartney.

Division Two

AFTER failing to win any of their last three games, Arlesey Social Galacticos returned to winning ways to hold on to their position at the head of the league table and thus ended Elstow Abbey’s five game winning run with a 2-0 win at Arlesey Recreation Ground.Chris Kennedy and Lee Shambrook netting the vital goals.

Clifton however maintained their push for promotion in second spot with a 3-0 home win over bottom of the table Kempston Hammers Sports.Toby McNaught, Tony Norman and an own goal leaving The Hammers still looking for their first away win of the season.

Just behind Clifton on goal difference only are Bromham United, they took their unbeaten ways to six games with a 3-1 home win over Marabese Ceramics.Dean Waghorn, David Baxter and Sam Jones the goalscorers against a Tilerman reply from Romaro Marabese.

With games in hand on all of the top three clubs are fourth place Lea Sports PSG, they retained their seasons 100 per cent home record with a 6-0 thrashing of Westoning Recreation Club. James Awofisan striking five times and Haji Conteh once.

Now slipping out of the promotion race are Queens Park Crescents, they went down to their fifth consecutive away defeat when an 89th minute goal from Stuart Lyons took Stopsley Park to only their second home success of the season and a 1-0 win.

Still unbeaten at home this season are Great Barford, they sent Shefford Town & Campton Reserves to their sixth defeat on the bounce by beating them 3-1. Scott Moses twice plus George Harris on the scoresheet for the home side against a lone reply via Kieran O’Toole.

The day’s final game in this division seeing Stevington and Lidlington United Sports share the points in a 1-1 draw. Aaron Fletcher on target for the home side against a United reply from Chris Roberts.

Division Three

PAVENHAM remain 100 per cent on the road and four points clear at the top of the Division Three table after they netted a 5-3 victory at Caldecote ‘A’. James Owen with a brace plus Tom Ellis, Thomas Rodger and William McNally seeing their goals only replied to by a brace from Graham Weddell and Ryan Ambrose.

Second place Sharnbrook Reserves meantime were netting a 4-2 home win over Westoning Recreation Club Reserves, Kevin Harris and Jordan Baxter both on target twice against a Liam Boyle brace for The Rec Boys.

For third place Co-op Sports, it was a 4-1 home win over fellow promotion candidates M & DH Oakley, Scott Davies with a brace plus Ashley Jordan and Jason Kelly on the scoresheet against a lone reply from Jamie McLennan.

Still also in the promotion mix are Sundon Park Rangers, they won 4-0 at bottom of the table Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’. Nicky Buttigieg, Luke Evans, Samuel Kehinde and Mark Bonner all finding the back of the net.

Following three straight away defeats, Dunton Reserves returned to winning ways on the road via a 5-0 victory at Flitwick Town Reserves, for whom it was a third straight home defeat. Carl Mercer netting in the opening half before a Nicky Albone brace and strikes from Chris Weustner and Liam Brophy added to the tally in the second period. Albone missing his chance to grab a hat-trick by missing from the penalty spot.

Elsewhere, Riseley Sports maintained their season’s unbeaten away ways in sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Renhold Village. Jimmy Gandidge and Alan Spurgeon shooting them 2-0 ahead by the half-hour mark before a 32nd minute strike from Alex Giscombe and a second half goal from Carl Townsend saved the day for the Village.

Climbing out of the drop zone at the bottom of the league are Royal Oak Kempston, they emerged 3-2 home winners over Wilshamstead Reserves. Lorenzo Jordan, Dean Boland and Paul Stevens on target against replies from Dan Wisson and Matt Johnson.

Division Four

NOW nine points clear at the head of the league table and still 100 per cent for the season are AFC Turvey, they netted their 13th win on the bounce 9-0 at home over now bottom of the table Kempston Athletic.

Saimir Guri leading the way with four goals, whilst also finding the back of the net were John Guiney, Mark Allen, Andrew Wren, Oliver Dove and Mike Stephenson.

Dropping in the table from second to third are Eastcotts, they lost their seasons unbeaten home ways when defeated 3-2 by Potton Town. Chris Moore with a brace plus Tom Pyman on target for the Town against home replies from Michael Sexton and Tony Milioti.

Taking over that second spot are Goldington, they ended Thurleigh’s 100 per cent home ways for the season with a 5-1 victory.Karl Anderson on target twice alongside Kieran Bridger, Alan Cusjoe and Johnny Hutchinson against a home reply from Liam Bolton.

For Bedford Park Rangers, it was a first away win in eight outings via a 4-2 victory at Goldington Hammers. Shaun Finlay with a brace plus Gary Hipkiss and Michael Patterson doing the damage against home replies from Joel Tatham and Jimmy Jacob.

Also enjoying life on the road were Lea Sports PSG, they won for the first time in five league outings 2-0 at Sandy Reserves, all thanks to a brace of goals from Haseem Raja.

Whilst Wootton Village climbed off the bottom of the league table with their first home point of the season from a 2-2 draw with Stewartby Village.Adam Flynn and Kaylan Wilson on target for the home side against replies from Tom Bellwood-Smith and Tom Wheelhouse.

Watson Shield

THE lone Watson Shield action seeing Division Four,Dinamo Flitwick win 1-0 at Division Three, Cranfield United Reserves ,all thanks to a goal from Dean Myers.
