Bedfordshire League preview: September 13

Current leaders Renhold United head to Hurst Grove for a meeting with current bottom of the table Lidlington United Sports, whilst second place Marston Shelton Rovers look to have a much more difficult task on their hands when they journey to Oakley Playing Fields and an outing against fifth place AFC Oakley M&DH who still hold down a seasons unbeaten record.

For third place Shefford Town & Campton it’s also a trip on the road to The Green where they will face Ickwell & Old Warden who will be on a high following their win at AFC Turvey last weekend. Whilst for AFC Turvey themselves it’s a tough looking home encounter at Thurleigh Playing Fields against last seasons runners-up AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College.

Alongside Lidlington United Sports just two other clubs are yet to gain a point this season and of the two Eastcotts AFC would love nothing better than points to come against their ex landlords Wootton Blue Cross who visit them at their new Sharnbrook Upper School base. Pavenham journey to Harvey Close to face an outing against Caldecote.

Other action comes on the 3G surface at Redborne School where Sharnbrook are the visitors to face hosts Flitwick Town and at Bedford Road Recreation ground where Sandy look for their first win of the season against the visiting Wilstead.

As in the top flight, Division One sees the current league leaders hit the road to meet the current bottom club, thus meaning a trip for Cranfield United to Everton Playing Fields to be hosted by Great Barford. Whilst second place Henlow, following two away wins, commence their Groveside home season with a visit from Riseley Sports.

Over at Stockwood Park Athletic Stadium third place Sundon Park Rangers will be playing hosts to Brache Sparta who were only accepted in league membership to replace Clifton last week.Whilst perhaps the game of the day in this division comes at the Warren, the venue at which Elstow Abbey play hosts to AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves.

Over at Miller Road, it’s home game number three on the bounce for Meltis Albion when they entertain Bedford SA who due to cricket making their home ground unavailable play their third away game on the bounce.

In two other fixtures for the four sides involved its the search of their first win of the season. At New Grounds, AFC Harlington play hosts to Potton Town and in Mowsbury Park, Queens Park Crescents face a visit from Shefford Town & Campton Reserves.

The final game in this division sees Marabese Ceramics open their home season at Ickleford Playing Fields with a visit from AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves.

In Division Two there are away outings for the top two sides. Current leaders Meltis Albion Reserves on their way for a Renhold Playing Fields outing against Renhold United Reserves and Westoning heading for a Marston Playing Fields encounter with Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves.

Over at Horsehorse Close, both Moggerhanger United and visitors Stevington will look to maintain their seasons unbeaten ways, a comment that also applies to Kempston Athletic when they journey for a Jubilee Playing Fields outing against Wilstead Reserves and to Elstow Abbey Reserves who hit the road to King George VI Playing Fields to be hosted by Clapham Sports.

Other action comes at Moore Crescent, the venue at which FC Houghton search out for their opening point/points of the season against visitors Bedford United, at Cutler Hammer where hosts Kempston Hammers receive a visit from Caldecote Reserves and in Hillgrounds where Kempston Con Club Sports face Wootton Village.

With Division Three league leaders Dinamo Flitwick sitting the afternoon out we are almost certain to have new league leaders come the final whistles. Favourites to take over that mantle will be current second place Cranfield United Reserves who are in home Crawley Road action against bottom of the table Moggerhanger United Reserves. But should they slip up then Lea Sports PSG would go top with a home Pirton Playing Fields victory over the visiting Atletico Europa.

Other action sees both FC Serbia and Caldecote U20 seek out their first point/points of the season when they meet at the Bedford Academy and also in search of their first point/points of the season will be Sandy Reserves when they journey for a Hillgrounds meeting at White Eagles and Shefford Town & Campton U20 who open their 2014-15 season with a home game at Rectory Road against Mid Beds Tigers.

The final action sees both Westoning U20 the hosts and Flitwick Town Reserves the visitors look to maintain their 100% seasons ways when they meet at Greenfield Road.
