Bedfordshire League preview: Saturday, October 22

Action this weekend in the Premier Division supported by Sportsform section sees both of the leading two clubs on home soil. At Harvey Close, Caldecote defend their season’s 100% home record when visited by local rivals Dunton who are yet to win on the road this season. Whilst Oakley Sports defend their own unbeaten home ways for the season when AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College come calling upon their Oakley Playing Fields headquarters.

Action at Moggerhanger Playing Fields will see Blunham look to extend their unbeaten home ways against Sharnbrook. Whilst Bedford Hatters look to remain unbeaten on the road this season when they journey to Steppingley Road to take on hosts Flitwick Town.

Elsewhere, Shefford Town & Campton will perhaps start the favourites to collect the full three points when they journey to Crawley Road to face Woburn.Yet things will be much harder for Wilshamstead to collect the maximum points when they travel to Renhold Playing Fields to face hosts Renhold United.

For the majority of Division One sides the action this weekend switches to ties in this season’s Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup Of the 11 encounters, just one is an all Bedfordshire County Football League affair. At Harvey Close, Caldecote Reserves will welcome a visit from Meltis Albion, the home side perhaps the favourites to advance into the next round.

In the other 10 ties our sides have home advantage in just four games. At Groveside, Henlow play hosts to local rivals Stotfold Reserves who currently hold down a mid-table position in South Midlands League Reserve Division One. Whilst at Hurst Grove, Lidlington United Sports entertain Kent Athletic Reserves who are enjoying life this season in the upper region of The South Midlands League Reserve Division Two standings.

The most difficult home tie of the four belongs to Kings AFC, when at King George VI Playing Fields they will be playing hosts to Barton Rovers Reserves who make the journey the current league leaders of The Suburban League Northern Division.Whilst at Cople Playing Fields, Bedford Sports Athletic receive a visit from AFC Kempston Rovers Reserves who are currently enjoying a successful United Counties League Reserves Division One campaign.

Of the six sides hitting the road, four make their way to the other side of the county to face opposition from The Luton District & South Beds League Premier Division. Marston Shelton Rovers heading for a Stockwood Park meeting with currently unbeaten Farley Boys, whilst Westoning make tracks for Markyate Playing Fields to be hosted by mid-table Real F.N.E.

Elsewhere, things might be easier for Sandy, they head to Gipsy Lane to take on Christian in Sports and for FC Meppershall who journey to Kingsbury Avenue to face Ewe & Lamb, both host sides currently sit in the lower regions of the league table.

In the other two games, it’s a visit for Luton Boys to Forde Park to be hosted by South Midlands League outfit Langford.Whilst Ickwell & Old Warden head to Clements End Lane Studham to be hosted by Aylesbury League side FC Spandits.

Leaving the lone Division one league action at Pirton Recreation Ground, where Lea Sports PSG play hosts to the travelling AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves.

In Division Two, Elstow Abbey look to defend their home 100% record for the campaign, when Clifton despite still be unbeaten on the road this campaign come calling upon them at The Warren.

Of the other early season pacemakers in the promotion race, Sundon Park Rangers are due in home Stockwood Park action against a Bromham United side that has lost its last two away outings.Whilst Pavenham still 100%on the road this campaign travel to Rectory Road to face Shefford Town & Campton Reserves.

Over in Mowsbury Park, Marabese Ceramics would normally be the host club but this weekend they are visitors to take on fellow ground sharers Queens Park Crescents and at The Hollow, Potton United Reserves look for their third home win on the bounce when visited by Stopsley Park.

The final game of the day in this division coming just down the road from The Hollow at Everton Playing Fields where Great Barford play hosts to M & DH Oakley.

In Division Three, 10 of the 14 sides would perhaps still consider themselves title/promotion candidates. All of which means once again this weekends action could see the league table take another dramatic reshuffle come the final whistles being blown.For the game of the day,on paper you need look no further than the Gold Street clash between hosts Riseley Sports as they defend their seasons unbeaten ways against Renhold Village.

Over at Horseshoes Close, Dunton Reserves entertain Eastcotts AFC looking for their first win of the season. Whilst in Mowsbury Park, Goldington will be firm favourites to collect the full three points when they host a Flitwick Town Reserves outfit that are still in search of their first away point/points of the season.

Cutler Hammer action sees Kempston Hammers Sports go looking for their third home win on the bounce when visited by Potton Town. Whilst at Hillgrounds, Royal Oak Kempston entertain Sundon Park Rangers Colts in search of their first home win of the season. However at Greenfield Road, hosts Westoning Reserves look to defend their seasons 100% home record against high-flying second place visitors Stevington.

The final game in this division taking place at Jubilee Playing Fields,the venue for Wilshamstead Reserves home clash with Cranfield United Reserves.

In Division Four, league leaders Bedford Park Rangers will be expected to collect the full three points when they host yet to win this season Dunton A in Mowsbury Park. Whilst at Whiston Crescent, still unbeaten Clifton Reserves go into home action against fellow title contenders Marsh Leys who will arrive looking to defend their seasons 100% away record.

For Stewartby Village who are still unbeaten on the road this season, it’s a trip on the road to Bedford Road Recreation Ground to take on a Sandy Reserves outfit that are still to win on home soil this season.Whilst Kempston Athletic defend their seasons unbeaten home ways against Bedford Panthers at Hillgrounds.

Over at Keysoe Road,Thurleigh will start the firm favourites to collect the points on offer when visited by Goldington Hammers who travel in search of their first away point/points of the season.Whilst at Hinksley Road Recreation Ground, Dinamo Flitwick search out their first home win of the campaign when they host Shefford Town & Campton A.

The final game of the day taking Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves on the road to face Wootton Village at their Wootton Recreation Ground headquarters.

Action will then move on to Wednesday evening October 26th when at The Hollow, Potton United Reserves host Eastcotts AFC in a Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup Second Round tie kick off at 7.45pm.
