Bedfordshire League preview: January 30

On paper second place Renhold United look to have the easier task going into their Playing Field encounter against second from bottom of the table Eastcotts AFC in search of their fourth home win on the bounce against a visiting side whose away trips this season have seen them collect just three points from a possible 27.

Whilst league leaders AFC Oakley M&DH search out their fifth home win on the bounce when called upon at their Church Lane base by near neighbours Sharnbrook whose recent form of just one defeat in their last seven league outings including winning their last three away outings suggests this will be no stroll in the park for the home side.

There is also a local flavouring to the action at the Football Centre, being the venue at which seventh place Flitwick Town look for their first home win of 2016 against fourth place Ampthill Town Reserves who will make the short journey looking to avoid their fourth consecutive away defeat and not so many miles away at Crawley Road sixth place hosts Cranfield United will be in search of league win number five on the bounce against tenth place Ickwell & Old Warden who will hit the road in the quest of their third away win on the bounce.

Meantime over at Jubilee Playing Fields for third place Wilstead the visitors are 13th place Sandy who are currently on a four game losing away run and for bottom of the table Elstow Abbey its home Warren action looking to end their run of 13 straight defeats against fifth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College.

Elsewhere over at their Playing Field base second place Stevington who still remain unbeaten on home soil in league action this season are called upon by eighth place Shefford Town & Campton Reserves who have won just the twice on the road all season and at Mill Lane seventh place Potton Town will go in search of their fourth home win on the bounce when visited by sixth place Meltis Albion who will be looking to repair the damage of two consecutive defeats.

The final league action is scheduled to be at Greenfield Road being the venue at which hosts Westoning are due a visit from Henlow but with Henlow’s home Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup tie against AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves waterlogged off last weekend this fixture for certain will be postponed to allow the County Cup tie to go ahead this weekend.
