Bedfordshire League preview: December 6

Premier Division supported by Sportsform action this weekend takes the league leaders Renhold United on the road to Lodge Road to face seventh place Sharnbook who will be looking for just their third home win.

Second place Shefford Town & Campton, who trail them on goal difference, will be in home Hitchin Road action looking to preserve their unbeaten ways when visited by second from bottom of the table Lidlington United Sports. Of the other clubs still looking to muscle into the championship race it’s away action at Harvey Close for fourth place AFC Oakley M&DH against the hosting third from bottom of the table Caldecote.

Whilst third place Marston Shelton Rovers stage a rematch of their home encounter at their Playing Field headquarters against near neighbours Wootton Blue Cross after the original game last month was waterlogged off at half-time with the clubs deadlocked at 1-1.

The only other club at the moment who appear to be a threat to the top two are Flitwick Town and for them it’s a trip on the road to the Green to be hosted by bottom of the table Ickwell & Old Warden. The hosts are looking for just their second home win of the season whilst the Town look for their third away win on the bounce.

Meantime over at Hillgrounds, sixth place hosts AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College will in this home game number six be looking for their first home win of the season against the visiting tenth place Sandy .The task being far from easy as the visitors will hit the road looking for their fourth consecutive away win.

Also looking for their first home win of the season will be eleventh place AFC Turvey at Thurleigh Playing Fields where they hope to end a run of six consecutive home defeats when called upon by fourth from bottom of the table Wilstead whose last six away outings have seen them fail to return to their Jubilee Playing Fields base with all three points.

The final top flight action is at Pavenham Playing Fields, the venue at which 12th place hosts Pavenham with just two home wins to their name all season receive a visit from ninth place Eastcotts AFC who have just one away win to their name this season.

With Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford league leaders Henlow and second place Elstow Abbey sitting the afternoon out third place Cranfield United still holding down a seasons 100% home record welcome tenth place Shefford Town & Campton Reserves to Crawley Road whose record on the road this season shows just one defeat from six outings.

Whilst for sixth place Sundon Park Rangers its the short trip on the road to New Grounds to face third from bottom of the table AFC Harlington who will be search of just their second home win of the season.

Other action coming at Mill Lane, the venue at which eighth place hosts Potton Town take on the visiting Bedford SA and at Gold Street, ninth place hosts Riseley Sports are called upon by the visiting AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves who have now lost their last three away game to drop down to eleventh place in the league table.

Elsewhere four other division one supported by Wests Citroen Bedford sides will be in action in the third round of this seasons Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup and for AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves that means a journey to Manor Road to take on Luton District & South Beds League side Caddington Rangers. Whilst in Allen Park, its also opposition from the same league for Queens Park Crescents when they play hosts to Crawley Green A.

The third tie being an all Bedfordshire County Football League affair at Fisher Close between hosts Great Barford and the visiting Meltis Albion who just happen to be the last side to beat the boys from Barford back in early October some eight league games ago.

In Division Two for league leaders Westoning it will be the search of win number six on the bounce when they play hosts at Greenfield Road to Caldecote Reserves losers of their last six away games.Whilst second place Clapham Sports winners of their last four outings journey to Renhold Playing Fields to be hosted by Renhold United Reserves who they beat 2-1 on their own patch last weekend.

For third place FC Houghton its also a trip on the road has they make their way to Cutler Hammer looking for their ninth consecutive league win on the bounce against the hosting eighth place Kempston Athletic. Whilst fourth place Stevington now on a six game winning league run themselves head to the Warren to be hosted by fifth place Elstow Abbey Reserves who will be looking to return for the first time in three outings to winning ways on home soil.

Elsewhere over at Miller Road, seventh place Meltis Albion Reserves beaten just the twice on home soil this season receive a visit from Moggerhanger United and at Jubilee Playing Fields bottom of the table Wilstead Reserves will be seeking their first win of the season against the visiting third from bottom of the table Bedford United who will hit the road looking for just their second away win of the season.

The final action in this division is at Wootton Playing Fields, the venue at which ninth place Wootton Village host sixth place Kempston Hammers Sports.

In Division Three for league leaders Lea Sports PSG now on a five game winning league run its home action at Pirton Recreation Ground against third from bottom of the table Mid Beds Tigers who have now lost their last six league outings.

Whilst second place Atletico Europa who trail them by just a single point but having played two games fewer its a trip on the road to Rectory Road to defend their seasons unbeaten away record against ninth place Shefford Town & Campton A.Whilst over at Whiston Crescent, fourth place Clifton take on third place Dinamo Flitwick as both sides look to keep themselves in the championship/promotion race.

Other sides looking to stay in that same race are fifth place Cranfield United Reserves who will be expected to collect all three points when they travel to Harvey Close to be hostsed by bottom of the table Caldecote U20 who are now on a four game losing run. Whilst at the Flitwick Community Football Centre that championship/promotion race interests both eighth place hosts Flitwick Town Reserves still unbeaten on home turf this season and the visiting seventh place Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves winners of four of their five trips away from the Green this season.

Also in that race for promotion are sixth place White Eagles, for them its a home Hillgrounds meeting with second from bottom of the table Westoning U20.who are now on a eight game losing run and the final action comes at The Bedford Academy, the venue at which tenth place hosts FC Serbia are paid a visit from eleventh place Sandy Reserves.
