Bedfordshire League preview: December 12

Current league leaders AFC Oakley M&DH now unbeaten in their last 10 outings of which nine have been won, welcome second place Renhold United who are just a point adrift of them in the league standings and making the short journey looking to defend their seasons unbeaten away ways.

Whilst for third place Ampthill Town Reserves, who also hold down an unbeaten away record it’s a trip to Bedford Road Recreation Ground to face Sandy. The Town beat Sandy 5-0 just 14 days ago on their own patch and will be looking to take their unbeaten ways up to 12 games against their hosts who will be hoping to end a run of five consecutive defeats which has seen them drop down to 13th in the table.

Having lost their last two outings fourth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College head for a Hitchin Road outing against eighth place Shefford Town & Campton where the hosts have been beaten just the twice this season.

Whilst at Crawley Road it’s local derby action between seventh place hosts Cranfield United who will be looking for their third win on the bounce against ninth place visitors Marston Shelton Rovers who have failed to win on the road in their last four attempts.

Other action comes at Weston Park, the venue at which second from bottom of the table Eastcotts AFC host 11th place Sharnbrook who will be looking for their third away win on the bounce and at Harvey Close, where Caldecote with just one home win to their name this season welcome Pavenham who have won just the once on the road all season.

Away from the league action it’s Quarter-final day in this seaso’ns Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy when on the Green Ickwell & Old Warden rplay South Midlands League side Kent Athletic and Flitwick Town hit the road for a Woburn Road outing against another South Midlands League outfit, namely Ampthill Town.

Likewise Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford also brings about a clash between the top two clubs when at their Playing Field headquarters second place Stevington, 100% on home soil this season, welcome still unbeaten league leaders Sundon Park Rangers.

Whilst also hitting the road will be third place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves who head for a Moore Crescent outing against tenth place Houghton Athletic.

At Rectory Road it’s a quick reunion for hosts Shefford Town & Campton Reserves who look for just their second home win against the fourth place Ickleford who they drew 0-0 with last weekend.

Whilst fifth place Meltis Albion, now unbeaten in their last three outings, head for Allen Park to be hosted by the still unbeaten at home and sixth place Queens Park Crescents.

Other action comes at Groveside, the venue at which second from bottom of the table Henlow play the only team below them in the standings namely AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves.

At Greenfield Road seventh place Westoning defend their unbeaten home ways against the visiting third from bottom of the table Potton Town.

In Division Two with league leaders Cranfield United Reserves sitting the afternoon out second place Cople & Bedford SA could close the gap on them to just three points should they retain their 100% home record with a win over the visiting seventh place Kempston Hammers Sports.

Whilst third place Lea Sports PSG will be hoping to return to winning ways when they journey to Marston Playing Fields to face bottom side Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves who despite their position, still remain unbeaten at home this season.

Still very much in the promotion hunt are fourth place Clapham Sports and for them it’s home action at King George VI Playing Fields where they still hold down a seasons 100% perfect record against the visiting sixth place Atletico Europa who have won just the once on the road all season.

Whilst at their Football Centre base fifth place Flitwick Town Reserves look for their fourth home win on the bounce when called upon by eighth place Bedford United.

The final action in this section comes at Cutler Hammer where hosts Kempston Athletic and the visiting Wootton Village look for the points to draw themselves away from the relegation zone.

In Division Three for the still 100% league leaders Wixams it’s a trip to Renhold Playing Fields to be hosted by eighth place Renhold United Reserves who have been beaten just the once on home soil all season.

Whilst the game of the day sees second place Sundon Park Rovers, now on a nine game unbeaten run, play hosts in Leagrave Park to third place White Eagles who will hit the road now unbeaten in their last five outings.

Over at Whiston Crescent it’s local derby action between second from bottom of the table hosts Clifton who will be looking to end a run of four consecutive defeats when called upon by fourth place AFC Dunton who will make the short journey in search of their fourth win on the bounce.

Plus it’s also local derby action at Harvey Close, where hosts Caldecote Reserves now on a three game winning home welcome tenth place Sandy Reserves who travel looking to end a run of five straight away defeats.

Other action comes at Redborne School on the 3G surface where sixth place Dinamo Flitwick, now losers of their last three home outings, play fifth place Wilstead Reserves and at Miller Road, bottom of the table Meltis Albion Reserves still without a home point to their name this season and losers of their last five outings play hosts to Shefford Town & Campton A who last won on the road in their first away outing of the season back in early September.

In Division Four it’s a programme of just two games but for Bedford Albion it’s a chance to climb into the top three should they record their seventh win on the bounce when they journey to Hillgrounds for a 3G outing against sixth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College A winners of their last two home outings
