Bedfordshire League preview: April 4

They will be hitting the road looking to defend their unbeaten away record against tenth place Eastcotts AFC at their new weekend home of Wixams.

Whilst over at Church Lane, fourth place AFC Oakley M&DH beaten just the twice on home soil all season welcome second place Flitwick Town who have lost just the twice on the road all season. The outcome of this contest could well decide the destination of this season’s silver medals.

Over at Marston Playing Fields, fifth place hosts Marston Shelton Rovers ,now without a home league win in their last five outings despite during the same period remaining unbeaten on the road, entertain eighth place Pavenham.

Just down the road at Weston Park, sixth place Wootton Blue Cross look for their first home win in four starts when called upon by second from bottom of the table Caldecote who have won just the once on the road all season.

For basement club Ickwell & Old Warden, winners of just one home game all season, it’s action on the Green against seventh place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College who have lost just the twice on the road this season.

Whilst the final action comes at Jubilee Playing Fields, the venue at which 12th place Wilstead look for just their second home win of the season against 11th place Sharnbrook who will hit the road in search of just their second away win of 2015.

With Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford Elstow Abbey sitting the afternoon out, if they had not done so already in midweek with a home win over Great Barford then Cranfield United would climb to the top if the win against tenth place Potton Town at Crawley Road.

The Town are hitting the road looking to repair the damage of three consecutive away defeats against a United side who went into that clash with Great Barford still with a 100% home record.

Talking of fourth place Great Barford, it’s home action at Fisher Close against eighth place AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves whose haul of just four points from their last nine away outings suggests another home win for Barford looks on the cards in their quest to claim the season’s bronze medal position.

Their nearest rivals for this spot are current third place Henlow and for them now losers of their last three home encounters at Groveside its a visit from twelfth place AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves.

Down at the other end of the table, third from bottom edford SA now without a win in their last nine outings hit the road for an Ickleford Playing Fields outing against bottom of the table Marabese Ceramics who have won just the once on home soil all season.

Other action comes at Miller Road, the venue at which seventh place Meltis Albion now on a five game league run without a victory play hosts to fifth place Sundon Park Rangers who will be in search of their fourth away win on the bounce.

At Gold Street, sixth place hosts Riseley Sports now unbeaten in their last five league outings take on ninth place Queens Park Crescents winners of three of their last four away league encounters.

In Division Two for the two leading title contenders it’s trips on the road. League leaders Stevington heading for Miller Road in search of their seventh away win on the bounce against the hosting 11th place Meltis Albion Reserves. Whilst second place Westoning now on a 12 game winning league run head for Renhold Playing Fields to be hosted by tenth place Renhold United Reserves who will be in search of their second home win of 2015.

Still very much in the promotion hunt are fourth place FC Houghton and for them its the quest to take their unbeaten league home ways up to nine games when at Moore Crescent they play hosts to fifth place Wootton Village whose recent record on the road of just one defeat in their last six outings suggest a close encounter could well be on the cards.

For third place Clapham Sports now on a four game unbeaten league run it’s home action at King George VI Playing Fields against eighth place Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves.

At Cutler Hammer seventh place Kempston Hammers Sports entertain fellow ground sharers Kempston Athletic seeking revenge for their 4-1 defeat at the same venue back in late November.

Other action comes at Harvey Close, the venue at which second from bottom of the table Caldecote Reserves now losers of their last five home outings play hosts to twelfth place Bedford United and at the Warren, sixth place Elstow Abbey Reserves lock horns again with the visiting bottom of the table Wilstead Reserves just seven days after their Jubilee Cup encounter which ended in a penalty shoot-out win for the basement side.

Action in Division Three is down to just a programme of four games.

The most important of these sees second place Lea Sports PSG now on a six game winning away run head for a Flitwick Football Community Centre outing against third place Flitwick Town Reserves who still remain unbeaten on home soil this season.

Yet not that far behind will be the quest of the three points for league leaders Cranfield United Reserves, when at Crawley Road in a 4.45pm kick off they play hosts to ninth place Sandy Reserves who will hit the road looking for their first away win of 2015.

Meantime at Greenfield Road, 11th place Westoning U20 play hosts to sixth place Dinamo Flitwick who will be looking for their third win on the bounce and at Rectory Road, tenth place Shefford Town & Campton A without a league win from their last four outings are called upon by eighth place White Eagles losers of four of their last five trips on the road.

Action will then move onto Easter Monday where there is a fixture list of just four games. In the Premier Division supported by Sportsform action Flitwick Town will be searching out three vital home points at their Football Community Centre base against the visiting Marston Shelton Rovers. Whilst Eastcotts AFC receive a visit from Sandy in a game now to be played at Weston Park, Wootton Blue Cross FC kicking off at 7.30pm

The lone game in Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford is an all important one for Cranfield United when they journey for a Rectory Road meeting with Shefford Town & Campton Reserves and the same comments applies to Westoning in Division Two when they hit the road to face Moggerhanger United at Horseshoes Close.

All these games apart from Eastcotts AFC v Sandy will Kick off at 6.15pm.

It’s then onwards to Wednesday evening, April 8, for another set of four games. Premier Division supported by Sportsform action comes at Hillgrounds between AFC Kempston & College v Pavenham and at Weston Park between hosts Wootton Blue Cross and the visiting Ickwell & Old Warden. Both games kick off at 7.30pm as will the Division Two encounter at Ampthill FC between the hosting FC Houghton and visitors Elstow Abbey Reserves.

The fourth game is in the Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford section when at the Warren hosts Elstow Abbey are called upon by Meltis Albion for a 6.15pm Kick Off.

On Friday evening under the floodlights at Biggleswade Town is the final of this season’s Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup where Stevington take on Luton District & South Beds League side Caddington Rangers Reserves. Kick off is at 7.30pm.
