Bedfordshire League preview

Action this weekend starts on Friday evening with the staging of two games.The big match of course is the final of this season’s Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup at The Hollow, Potton United, where in a 7.45pm kick off, Elstow Abbey take to the field against Pavenham. The second game being at Stevington Playing Fields in Division Two, where Stevington will be in action in a 6.15pm kick off against Marabese Ceramics.

If the Premier Division supported by Sportsform title race is not already down to just two clubs, then it could well be after this weekend following Wilshamstead visit to Moggerhanger Playing Fields to take on title favourites Blunham. The visitors needing to find a way of ending the reigning champions unbeaten home ways for the season to keep the title race a three club affair.

The other club with title aspirations are of course Shefford Town & Campton,they journey to Oakley Playing Fields to face Oakley Sports looking for their tenth win on the bounce against a home outfit that has won just two of its last seven home outings.

There is of course plenty to play for at the other end of the table, none more so than at Harvey Close where relegation haunted Woburn, now without an away win since early September travel to face home side Caldecote who have dropped out of the championship race by losing their last three home games.

AFC Kempston Town will also be anxious to collect some points at Hillgrounds when they look to end a winless run of three home games against visitors Dunton. Whilst perhaps still looking over their shoulder at the other results are Sharnbrook,they hit the road to Steppingley Road looking for just their third away win of the season against hosts Flitwick Town.

The other top flight action takes place at Stanbridge Road,the venue for Leighton United’s home encounter with Renhold United beaten just once on the road this season.

In Division One, all eyes in the championship race will turn to Miller Road where 100% at home Bedford Hatters receive a visit from a Blunham Reserves side that has won just once on the road all season.Whilst Marston Shelton Rovers fading promotion hopes will rest upon them collecting the full three points when visited by Henlow at their Marston Playing Field Headquarters.

Over at Bedford Road Recreation Ground, Sandy will be expected to return to winning ways on home soil when FC Meppershall now without an away win in five outings come calling. Whilst at Cople Playing Fields, hosts Bedford Sports Athletic will start favourites for the full three points when they go into local derby action against Caldecote Reserves.

The final action in this section, taking place on The Green,where Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves play hosts to Meltis Albion.

In Division Two, the programme is one of just four games, for championship chasing Lea Sports PSG it is a trip to Whiston Crescent looking for away win number five on the bounce against hosts Clifton who have lost their last three home games.Whilst at King George VI Playing Fields, if they are to stay in the promotion race, three points are required by hosts Kings AFC when they entertain Stopsley Park.

Other action comes at Hurst Grove, the venue for Lidlington United Sports home encounter with bottom of the table Kempston Hammers Sports and in Mowsbury Park where Queens Park Crescents receive a visit from Shefford Town & Campton Reserves.

In Division Three, there are home games for the two leading title contenders, Pavenham hosting M & DH Oakley in Hillgrounds, whilst over at Lodge Road, Sharnbrook Reserves seek their seventh home win on the bounce when Flitwick Town Reserves come calling.

Elsewhere in Stockwood Park, Sundon Park Rangers will be looking to take their unbeaten home ways up to seven games when visited by a Riseley Sports side that has lost its last five away games and at Jubilee Playing Fields, Wilshamstead Reserves will be confident of collecting the spoils when they host a Shefford Town and Campton A side that has failed to win any of its last six away games.

Other Hillgrounds, action sees The Royal Oak Kempston without a home win since the end of January, receive a visit from a Caldecote A outfit that have lost their last seven away outings.Whilst at Horseshoes Close,Dunton Reserves go in search of home win number three on the bounce when they entertain Cranfield United Reserves.

In Division Four, AFC Turvey still enjoying a 100% league season travel to Pirton Recreation Ground to take on Lea Sports PSG Reserves. Whilst for promotion seeking Goldington,it will be home Mowsbury Park action against Clifton Reserves.

Still also in the promotion race are Eastcotts, for them it’s a trip to Mowsbury Park to take on Bedford Park Rangers, a comment that equally applies to Potton Town when they host Goldington Hammers in search of home win number five on the bounce at Sunderland Road Playing Fields.

Elsewhere, Hinksley Playing Fields is the venue where Dinamo Flitwick now unbeaten in their last four home starts, host a Wootton Village outfit with just one away win to their name all season and at Hillgrounds, Kempston Athletic play hosts to Sandy Reserves.

The final game of the day being a Watson Shield Quarter-Final tie at Solway Road North,Co-op Sports hosting Thurleigh for the right to take on AFC Turvey in semi-final action at Potton United on Wednesday 27th April.

Action will then move on to Monday evening April 17th with a series of 13 league games, all kicking off at 6.15pm.

In Division One there will be just a single fixture the Mowsbury Park encounter between hosts FC Meppershall and the relegation haunted AFC Kempston Town Reserves.

In Division Two, the programme is one of three games, Lea Sports PSG looking to enhance their title hopes at Pirton Recreation Ground when they play hosts to Stopsley Park and over at King George VI Playing Fields, Kings AFC promotion hopes will perhaps come to an end should they fail to collect the full three home points when visited by Queens Park Crescents.

The third game comes at Greenfield Road, the venue for Westoning Recreation Club’s home encounter with Lidlington United Sports.

In Division Three there are five games, Hillgrounds being the venue where title seeking Pavenham take on Riseley Sports.Whilst their nearest rivals Sharnbrook Reserves will also be in home action at Lodge Road against the visiting Renhold Village.

Just down the road at Oakley Playing Fields, M & DH Oakley play hosts to Cranfield United and over in Stockwood Park there will be local derby action between hosts Sundon Park Rangers and local rivals Co-op Sports.

The Division Four action is one of four games, at Stonefields, champions elect AFC Turvey host Wootton Village, whilst promotion seeking Goldington are in Mowsbury Park home action against Sandy Reserves.

Elsewhere,Hillgrounds will be the venue for Eastcotts home outing against Thurleigh. Whilst at Sunderland Road Playing Fields, Potton Town are in home action against Dinamo Flitwick.

Action then moves to Wednesday night with another 12 games. Topping the bill will be the final of the 2010-11 season Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup at Bigglewade Town’s Carlsberg Stadium where Bedford Hatters will face Molten Spartan South Midlands League AFC Dunstable Reserves in a 7.45pm kick off.

For Premier Division supported by Sportsform clubs, there will be action at six venues. All eyes in the championship chase looking towards Rectory Road, the venue for Shefford Town & Campton’s home clash with AFC Kempston Town and to Oakley Playing Fields, the venue to which Blunham travel to face Oakley Sports.

Over at Jubilee Playing Fields, Wilshamstead will be taking on Caldecote and just down the road at Steppingley Road, Flitwick Town receive a visit from Leighton United. Whilst Sharnbrook head to Renhold Playing Fields to be entertained by Renhold United in local derby action.All these games kicking off at 6.15pm.

However at The Armadillo Stadium, it’s a 7.45pm start for Arlesey Town Reserves home encounter with Dunton.

Division One action is a lone match affair at Marston Playing Fields, the venue for Marston Shelton Rovers home game against Meltis Albion.

There are just two games in Division Two, at The Warren,Elstow Abbey host Bromham United and at their Playing Field Headquarters, Great Barford take on Marabese Ceramics.

Division Three is also a lone match affair,when at Greenfield Road, Westoning Recreation Club Reserves face a visit from local rivals Flitwick Town Reserves. Whilst the final action of the night comes in the shape of a Division Four encounter at Pirton Recreation Ground between Lea Sports PSG Reserves the hosts and their visitors Thurleigh.
