Bedfordshire League: November 30 preview

Following last weekend’s first defeat league leaders AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College will attempt to resume winning ways when they travel to face third place Lidlington United.

It will be tough as Lidlington have lost just once on home soil all season. Yet with a three point haul of their own United would jump above the Town in the league standings.

This of course would only take them to the top if their near neighbours Marston Shelton Rovers found a way of collecting the full three points from their visit to Greenfields and their outing against second place Shillington - who will enter the game unbeaten in their last nine outings and looking for their fifth home win on the bounce.

It’s local derby action at Harvey Close where Caldecote look for their third home win on the bounce against an Ickwell & Old Warden side that has lost its last two away games.

Fourth place Wilstead now on a six game unbeaten run are in home action at Jubilee Playing Fields against a Flitwick Town side who have lost just the once on the road all season.

Over at Rectory Road, Shefford Town & Campton are visited by the in form Sharnbrook and at their Playing Field headquarters, Pavenham will perhaps fancy their chances of returning to winning ways against the visting Renhold United who have won just the once on the road all season.

Whilst the final top flight action comes at Weston Park, the venue at which Wootton Blue Cross with just one home win to their name all season play hosts to AFC Oakley Sports M&DH.

For seven division one clubs its action in the third round of this seasons Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup, the draw bringing about two all Bedfordshire County Football League fixtures.

At Cople Playing Fields, Bedford Sports Athletic play hosts to league leaders Goldington just 28 days after holding them to a 1-1 draw at the same venue in league action. Whilst at Crawley Road, Woburn will be seeking revenge for their 6-2 defeat at Groveside on November 9 when they host the visiting Henlow.

Of the other trio of clubs, Bromham United travel away to play Crawley Green Reserves of the South Midlands League. Whilst also facing South Midlands League opposition will be AFC Turvey when Stotfold Reserves call upon them at their Stonefield base and for Elstow Abbey at the Warren, its a visit from Suburban League Barton Rovers Reserves.

This cup action leaves division one with just a programme of three games. However, it does give second place Sundon Park Rangers a chance to draw level on points with league leaders Goldington should they retain their seasons 100% home record with a victory in Stockwood Park against Marabese Ceramics but that will not be easy as the Tilermen are now unbeaten in their last seven outings.

Eastcotts AFC will also have a chance to jump into the top four of the league standings should they collect the full three points from their away encounter at The Woodlands against Brickhill Tigers and the trio of games is made up by the Chaul End Lane clash between hosts Luton Boys Seniors now without a win from their last six outings and the visiting Shefford Town & Campton who have lost their last three away games.

In Division Two, the unbeaten league leaders Potton Town will fully expect to collect another three points in their quest for the championship when they are visited at Mill Lane by second from bottom of the table Great Barford.

With second place AFC Oakley Sports M&DH Reserves sitting the afternoon out, Potton United Reserves could draw level with them on points should they collect the full three points from their home encounter at The Hollow against a yet to win on the road this season Co-op Sports.

For fourth place Queens Park Crescents, now without a win from their last five outings, it’s home Mowsbury Park action against a still unbeaten on the road this season Cranfield United. Whilst fifth place Clifton head for a Gold Street outing against the hosting Riseley Sports.

Other action comes at Hillgrounds, the venue at which AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves host the visiting AFC Harlington who have won just the once on the road this season. At their Playing Field headquarters, bottom of the table Renhold United Reserves play hosts to Kings AFC.

In Division Three, league leaders Meltis Albion will be in home action at Miller Road defending their seasons 100% home record against a yet to win on the road this season Kempston Hammers Sports.Whilst second place Stevington look to extend their winning ways to four games when called upon at their Playing Field headquarters by a Wilstead Reserves side that has lost just the once on the road this season.

Also hitting the road will be third place Westoning, they journey for a 3G Turf outing at Hillgrounds against second from bottom of the table AFC Bush who have been beaten just the once at home this season. Whilst with fourth place Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves sitting the afternoon out, fifth place Kempston Athletic will be fully expected to jump above them in the league standings when at Cutler Hammer they receive a visit from bottom of the table Clifton Reserves who are now on an eight game losing run.

Other action coming at The Hockey Centre, the venue at which hosts Bedford Panthers look to take their unbeaten ways up to four games against the visiting Kempton Con Club Sports who hit the road looking to end a three game losing run and on The Green, Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves now without a win from their last four league outings host a Elstow Abbey Reserves side who are now on a three game winning away run.

In Division Four for league leaders FC Houghton its home Moore Crescent action as they defend their seasons 100% home record against Mid Beds Tigers. Whilst second place Meltis Albion Reserves look to defend their seasons 100% away record when they make tracks for King George VI Playing Fields and an outing against fifth place Clapham Sports.

The two sides sitting between them in the league table go head to head, when at Wootton Playing Fields third place Wootton Village play hosts to a Cranfield United Reserves side who make the short journey looking for their fifth win on the bounce.

Over at Harrowden School, hosts Atletico Europa now on a three game losing run receive a visit from a yet to win on the road this season Sandy Reserves and at Hinksley Recreation Ground, hosts Dinamo Flitwick having lost their last three home league games will look to repair some of the damage when called upon by a Caldecote A side whose five away league outings to date this season have all ended in defeat.
