Bedfordshire County League round-up

Arlesey Town Reserves remain unbeaten and are six points clear in the Premier standings following a 2-1 home win over Sharnbrook. It was Martyn Cain who gave the visitors the lead before goals from Daniel Marshall and Tyler Prince saw the Blues make it a sixth consecutive win.

For nearest rivals Caldecote things were much easier as they romped to a 14-1 home win over Blunham. Dave Daniels and Barry Dellar both scoring hat-tricks, Paul Lawrence and Tom Cookman were on target twice along with single strikes from Tom McGhee, Matt Lee-Dell, Joe Jordan and Tom Wallace. Even the lone Blunham strike came from Danny Lane’s own goal!

Ickwell & Old Warden remain in third following their 4-3 win at Wilshamstead. Lee Threadgold, Danny Fox, Dean Hamilton and Ivan Finch all scored against replies from Colin Marshall, Paul Jones and Tom Guiney.

But esult of the day came from now fourth place Oakley Sports M&DH. They won 5-2 at Renhold United to end their host’s unbeaten run and to drop them down to sixth. Shaun Barnett put the visitors ahead after just eight minutes while 16 minutes later Jason Allison levelled for United.

And that’s the way it stayed until two goals from Mark Smith and a strike from Ali Smith in the opening 15 minutes of the new period shot their side 4-1 ahead. United were to reduce the arrears via Sheldon Washington 20 minutes from time while a strike from Aaron Wright brought up the nap hand for the visitors six minutes from time to ensure the points were on their way back to Oakley.

Now in fifth place are AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College, for them it was the retention of their seasons unbeaten home ways with a 3-2 victory over bottom of the table Bedford Sports Athletic. It all appeared to be plain sailing when after 20 minutes play goals from Shaun Challi, Matthew Cheveralls and John Guiney had them 3-0 ahead before strikes from Iain Asplin and Gary Canzano kept them sweating for the points right up until the final whistle.

Having lost their last four outings Bedford Hatters are now back into the top half of the league table following their 3-2 home win over Shefford Town & Campton. Xennon Paul. Simon Pixley and Keith Thomas on the scoresheet against replies via Jake Rennie and a Michael Jones penalty.

Elsewhere, Flitwick Town with a 70th minute goal from Liam Keane won 1-0 at AFC Biggleswade to leave their hosts still second from bottom of the league table and now having lost their opening five home games of the season.

Beds FA Intermediate Cup

It was not a good day in second round of the Intermnediate Cup for the league’s clubs with just three of the 11 competing making it into the hat for the third round draw.

Luton Boys led the way when goals from Naashon Bennett, Ali Mohiyaldeen and Famik Stephen-Gabriel took them to a 3-1 home win over Luton District & South Beds League Co-op Sports. Whilst two goals from Daryl Smith was enough to gain Leighton United a 2-1 home victory over another Luton District & South Beds League side 61FC Luton A.

The third victorious club being Elstow Abbey who required extra time to see off fellow division one counterparts Henlow 3-1. Jason Harrison shooting The Abbey ahead in the 31st minute until a strike from Russell Ayles 20 minutes from time took the game into extra time. Harrison again and Dom Pallella scoring in the second period to see The Abbey home.

For those making their exit, four even failed to score. Kings AFC losing 1-0 at AFC Dunstable Reserves, Shillington 2-0 at FC Wisla and Sandy 3-0 at Farley Boys. Whilst after 90 minutes play had seen Brickhill Tigers deadlocked 0-0 at home to Kent Athletic Reserves they were to ship five goals in extra time to lose 5-0.

Of the others, a Sam Amosh goal was all Shefford Town & Campton Reserves had to show for a 3-1 defeat at Crawley Green Reserves and a strike from Richard Lightfoot the only reward AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves brought back from Ampthill Town Reserves. Whilst Pavenham were defeated 4-1 at home by Leighton United Reserves with Tom Rodger netting their lone goal.

Division Two

Goldington’s lead is now up to two points after they retained their seasons unbeaten ways by winning 3-2 at start of play second in the table Woburn Athletic who thus lost their seasons unbeaten record. Antony Plaiter with a brace plus a goal from Michael Luke doing the damage against home replies from Daniel McClaren and Ben Nicholls. .

The Safari Boys dropping to third spot in the standings and overhauled by Sundon Park Rangers who retained their seasons 100 pew cent home record with a 6-3 victory over Potton United Reserves. Sam Kehinde netting twice alongside single strikes from Sam Chapman, Matt Conway, Chris Mapp and Daniel Buttigeig against United replies via Bradley Vooght, Steve Gibbons and Lee Adams.

Retaining fourth spot are Marabese Ceramics who sent Westoning tumbling down the table from fifth to eighth with their 4-2 home win over them. Giuseppe Marabese on the scoresheet three times and Arun Fehmi once against a brace in reply from Sam Childs.

Now in fifth place are Eastcotts AFC, for them it was a 1-0 victory at St Joseph Reserves thanks to a goal from Ciaran Alexander. Whilst jumping from ninth place into the top six are Cranfield United Reserves following their 5-2 win at Stopsley Park. Stephen Mullen with a brace plus strikes from David Anderson, Liam Whitmee-Craig and Stuart Peace outweighing home goals from Nathan Henry and Shane Roberts.

Elsewhere, Bromham United with a goal from Phil Kempsell were held to a 1-1 home draw by bottom of the table Queens Park Crescents whose reply came via Shahinur Rahman. Whilst Meltis Albion climbed out of the bottom two of the league table above both Potton United Reserves and Stopsley Park by earning a point from a 0-0 draw at Oakley Sports M&DH Reserves.

Division Three

The shock of the day saw league leaders Marsh Leys lose their season’s 100 per cent perfect record when beaten 8-1 at home by now second place Clifton. Tony Norman netting four times alongside strikes from Chris Mattingley, Lee Austin and James Fuller against a lone reply via Kade Walker.

Clifton taking over that second spot from Westoning Reserves who lost their seasons unbeaten ways to slide down the table to fourth after being beaten 5-3 at home by Dunton. Liam Brophy, Ben Myler, Laurence Bosher, Steve Pugh and Daniel Cutmore all on the visitors scoresheet against home replies from Nick Willis, Dean Gadsden and Scott Gadsden.

Now in third place are Wilshamstead Reserves, with a goal from Luke Pursey it was a 1-0 win at now second from bottom of the table Bedford Park Rangers who have now lost their last six games to leave just Royal Oak Kempston below them in the standings.

The Oak were beaten for the eighth consecutive league outing 5-2 at home by Kempston Hammers Sports who were enjoying their first win of the season to climb out of the relegation zone. Jimmy Grandidge with a hat-trick plus goals from Nick Tysoe and Mick Freeman bringing up The Hammers nap hand against Oak replies via David Minney and Michael Cooney.

Fifth place is now held by Riseley Sports, for them a lone goal from Niall O’Connor in a 1-0 win took their unbeaten ways up to five games to end Stevington’s unbeaten home ways for the season. Whilst now in the top six are Great Barford following their 5-0 home win over Renhold United Reserves. Ben Stock, Josh Pierre St Clair, Michael Pickard, Mark Harlow and a Docid Mulvhill penalty all hitting the back of the net.

Also going nap were Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves, they retained their seasons perfect home record with a 5-2 win over Potton Town. Aaron Kersey with a brace plus goals from Adam Drakville and Daniel Luke plus an own goal only being replied to by Callum McCoy and Paul Mijalski.

Division Four

It’s as you were at the top of the division four league table following wins for the top two sides. Leaders Elstow Abbey Reserves retaining their seasons perfect 100% record with a 4-1 win at Sandy Reserves thanks to two goals from Danny Bibby and strikes from Lewis Aitkin and Ben Beattie against a lone home reply via Jonnie Stratford.

Whilst second place Bedford Panthers also maintained their seasons 100 per cent ways with a 5-0 home win over third place Kempston Con Club Sports. Tom Wade netting three times and Valiant Mudokwani twice to do the damage.

However, top scorers of the day were Wootton Village who following three consecutive defeats ran out 6-3 home winners over yet to win on the road Dinamo Flitwick. Patrick Crouch with a brace supported by goals from Adam Flynn, Ivan Anderson, Sam Mulvaney and Dwayne Simpson against replies from Dom Loadman, Scott Hannan and Dave Elias.

Now out of the bottom two of the table are Caldecote A, they ended Clifton Reserves seasons unbeaten home record by beating them 3-0. Jack Aris, Ben Gibson and Stacey Kier on the scoresheet. Also winning 3-0 on the road were Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves at Dunton Reserves. Jim Burraway, Robert Moore and Ian Dawson netting the goals.

Alas for Shefford Town & Campton A it was a postponement of their scheduled game away at Flitwick Town Reserves when they failed to raise a side to travel.
