The game started badly for Bedford, as Fleet took the lead from the penalty spot after only seven minutes.

More misery came when the Eagles were forced into an early substitution after Kyal McNulty succumbed to an ankle injury.

Despite this, Bedford equalised just after the half hour when Bilal Yafai made no mistake from a perfectly weighted through-ball.

However, Fleet regained the lead three minutes into first half stoppage time to ensure they went in with a one-goal advantage at half-time.

Most of the second half was played in the Fleet half, but it looked as though the Eagles would end the game in defeat.

Four minutes from time, though, Bamford had other ideas as he ran on to a ball and superbly lobbed Fleet keeper Ryan Pryce for the equaliser.

In the remaining minutes, Bedford had more chances to nick the game, but in the end had to be content with a point.

There has been frustration for the Eagles today as their scheduled fixture at North Greenford United has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

On Saturday, they travel to Kings Langley, 3pm k/o.
