Arlesey Reserves take top spot in Premier

EARLY Premier Divsion leaders are last season’s strugglers Arlesey Town Reserves following their 2-1 victory at Sharnbrook. Jeremy ‘Jez’ Wiseman put the Blues ahead after 25 minutes while Charlie Marshall doubled the scoreline 10 minutes into the second period before Darren Wallinger snatch a home reply five minutes from time.

In second spot are Shefford Town & Campton who required a 90th minute goal from Michael Jones to earn a 1-1 home draw with Caldecote who had taken the lead thanks to Barry Dellar. The point was enough for Caldecote to take them to fourth spot.

Sitting between the two in third spot are Bedford Hatters following their 3-3 away draw at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College. Ahead just seven minutes into the contest thanks to a Mark Reed strike, Town drew level just 60 seconds later when Paul Obuch struck.

Then a second Reed goal after 35 minutes saw Hatters lead 2-1 at the break but Kegan Roberts had the hosts level four minutes into the new period, only to see Simon Pixley put the visitors ahead for a third time on 72 minutes. But back came Town with David Kane striking in the last action to give his side a share of the spoils.

Having sat the opening weekend out, Oakley Sports got their season underway with a 4-0 away win at Renhold United. Shaun Bennett (two) and Stuart Kelly shoot them into a 3-0 half time lead before substitute Jamie Lally added a fourth in the second period.

United only stay off of the bottom due to Dunton’s 3-2 defeat at Wilshamstead. Kevin Butler (two) and Colin Marshall netted for the home side against replies from a Barry Emery penalty and James Cooper.

Blunham took full revenge for their defeat at Flitwick Town last weekend by beating them 4-2 on home soil. Chris Dunne (two) plus the Banghard boys, Deep and Kier, were on the scoresheet against Town replies from Cody Roberts and Martin Byrne.

The seventh scheduled fixture between Woburn and Potton Wanderers was postponed after the visitors failed to raise a side.

Division One

LEADING the way in Division One are Lidlington United Sports. They were 5-1 winners at Meltis Albion thanks to Darren Sims (two), Alex Burrows, Steve Flaherty and John Smith, the reply being an own goal.

Also enjoying a big away win were Ickwell & Old Warden. They kicked off their campaign with a 5-0 victory at Kings AFC thanks to Matthew McCartney (two), Anup Kaylan, Danny Fox and Dan Jones.

Luton Boys also enjoyed a 5-0 win at home to AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Emrah Coskungonul netting twice alongside single goals from Famik Stephen-Gabriel, Daniel Bada and Jason Blake.

There were plenty of goals at Bedford Road Recreation Ground where hosts Sandy and Westoning played out a 4-4 draw. Dan Stafford bagged a hat-trick and Ian Hammett a penalty for the hosts against replies from Sam Potten (two), Andrew Morris and Chris Horncastle.

Over at Harvey Close, Caldecote Reserves required a 90th minute goal from Ricky Aris to earn a home point against Lea Sports PSG, Dion Brown having given PSG the lead just 10 minutes into the contest.

For Henlow it was a 1-0 away win at FC Meppershall, Jonathan ‘Jonny’ Rowe netting the only goal. Alas for Marston Shelton Rovers, a Jamie Cerminara goal was only enough to earn his side a 1-1 home draw with Bedford Sports Athletic.

Division Two

IT may only be week two of the new season but just three clubs remain with 100 per cent records. Leading the way are Elstow Abbey who netted a 5-0 win at Stopsley Park, Jason Harrison shooting them in front in the 35th minute before Abbey added to the scoreline four times during the last 20 minutes through Glen Tumulty (two), Tom Pitts and Dave McCartney.

In second spot are Pavenham who ran out 2-0 winners at Potton United Reserves thanks to strikes from James Owen and Tom Rodger. The third 100 percentres are AFC Turvey who enjoyed a 2-1 home victory over Co-op Sports thanks to John Guiney and Chris Winton against a Co-op reply from Andrew Randell.

With Great Barford’s pitch still unfit following repairs during the summer, they took on Sundon Park Rangers at Stockwood Park and went down to a 4-2 defeat. Luke Evans netted a hat-trick and Sam Chapman a single for Rangers against a brace in reply from Adam Dunville.

Bromham United won 3-0 at M& DH Oakley with Phil Hubbard netting twice and Shane Contanzo once.

The other two games ending in stalemate, Marabese Ceramics and Clifton’s gamne ending goalless at Groveside while a home goal from Queens Park Crescent’s Ayaz Husain was cancelled out by Lee Sharnbrook for Shefford Town & Campton Reserves in a 1-1 draw at Mowsbury Park.

EARLY leaders in Division Three are Renhold Village thanks to a 3-0 win at Potton Town after Simon Wade hit two and Carl Townsend one.

In second place despite being held to a 3-3 home draw by Dinamo Flitwick are Eastcotts AFC. Michael Sexton (two) and Liam Parker were on the home scoresheet while Barrie Lee Hannam (two) and Dale Goldie replied for the visitors.

Also having to share the spoils were Dunton Reserves and Stevington who played out a 2-2 draw. Liam Brophy and Jon Fediw were on target for Dunton against a Lawrence Bentham brace in reply.

Flitwick Town Reserves and Wilshamstead Reserves played out a goalles stalemate at Steppingley Road while Sundon Park Colts picked up a 3-2 home win over Cranfield United Reserves after scorers Ryan Batchelor, Rory McMullen and a Kevin Hilton penalty were replied to by Dan Cockerton and Adam Kerr.

The other two Division Three scheduled fixtures failed to go ahead, the council ruling Greenfield Road unplayable for Westoning Reserves home encounter with Riseley Sports, while Royal Oak Kempston failed to raise a side to travel to Goldington.

Division Four

EARLY Division Four leaders Kempston Athletic netted a fine 3-0 home win over Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves thanks to Dee Sayid, Gary Whitbread and James Maxwell but the top scorers for the afternoon were Caldecote ‘A’.

Cally’s third team won 7-3 at home to Sandy Reserves despite trailing twice. Gary Allum (two), Carl Heath, Jordan Goodman, Dan Fennell, Nick Albone and Elliott Brooker were on the Caldecote scoresheet against strikes from Jonnie Stafford, John Sheppard and Matt Baines.

Hitting six were Bedford Park Rangers. They thrashed Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’ 6-0 after Jordan Wright bagged a hat-trick, Joshua Geary a brace and Shaun Finlay a single.

In a day of high scores, there were also nap hands for both Wootton Village and Stewartby Village. Wootton won 5-2 at Dinamo Flitwick Reserves thanks to a double strike from Callum Farnborough to go alongside goals from Adam Flynn, Ryan Stocker and Bradley Head, the Dinamo replies from Wayne Gregory and Liam O’Leary.

Whilst Stewartby Village were 5-3 home winners over Dunton ‘A’ with goals from Kyle Smith (two), Tom Bellwood-Smith, Ben Sparks and Lee Collis, the three Dunton replies all coming from Richard Vale.

Marsh Leys lifted themselves into second spot thanks to a 4-1 home win over Goldington Hammers following goals from Shaun Gilbert, Jamie Frear, Jamie Carson and Vinny Mattu.

And the final game of the day ended in a 1-1 draw between Thurleigh and Clifton Reserves, David Mulvhill the home lscorer against a penalty in reply from Clifton’s Darren Carter.
