Terrible conditions in the second round of the Beds Road Club Evening League couldn’t stop CC Luton’s Ashley Cox from triumphing over the 11.3-mile course in 25.16mins, with the home club’s Simon Norman second in 26.31mins.

Elsewhere, in much better weather, Gill Fullen completed the 70.3-mile Ironman competition in Majorca and finished seventh non-pro lady, and won her age group.

Closer to home Simon Norman and David Olney again braved torrential rain, cold temperatures and a gale on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Bossard Wheelers Open on the F15/10 course.

Most Popular

Norman blasted round the course in 21.49mins to come second overall, and Olney worked hard for his 23.58mins to finish 14th overall.

Meanwhile, Jon Friend rode his first 50-mile time-trial, the Norland F1/50, and finished in 1.58.50hrs.
