Thurstance blasts Beds into T20 final

Bedfordshire reached the MCCA Unicorns T20 final after a close five-run win over Hertfordshire at Harpenden CC on Sunday.

With rain reducing the match to just eight over a side, Beds lost the toss wnd were inserted into bat.

Opener George Thurstance then dominated an opening stand of 33 with Andy Reynoldson, who fell for just two.

Shabz Hussain was promoted to number three, making seven before being run out, while Thurstance fell for an excellent 46 from just 28 balls with four fours and two sixes.

Nick Lee was also run out for eight, as Beds finished on 70-4 from their eight overs.

The visitors then enjoyed a terrific start with the ball, reducing Herts to 4-3.

Reynolds took two wickets, to finish with 2-11, while Colin Griggs picked up 1-11.

Thurstance got in on the act as well, with Hertfordshire 24-4, while although there was some late hitting from N Jeyaratnam (28no) and Dan Blacktopp 24, Herts fell short on 65-5.

Beds now go on to meet Berkshire in the final.
