The competition, which was organised by Team Beds and Luton, was run in two groups, one for Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD) and one for Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

Ivel Valley School, Biggleswade, won the SLD competition, beating St John’s School, Kempston, in the final, and the MLD group saw Arnold Academy, Barton, beat Henlow CE Academy.

The other schools that entered were Kempston schools The Grange and Ridgeway and Lady Zia Wernher School, Luton.

The matches were umpired and scored by 10 young leaders from Barnfield South Academy, Lealands High School and Sharnbrook Upper School.

Bedfordshire Cricket’s Chief Executive Martin Darlow said: “I received many positive comments and praise from teachers, spectators and officials.

“It was obvious that the students, young leaders and teaching staff enjoyed a great day of table cricket. The event was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase, raise awareness and deliver disability cricket.”
