Beds name unchanged XI for Northumberland

BedfordshirE will be unchanged for their Minor Counties Championship match with Northumberland beginning at Dunstable on Sunday.

The only doubt currently remaining is who will open the batting with vice-captain Steve Stubbings in the continued absence of James Kettleborough.

When Kettleborough missed the last game against Suffolk at Bury St Edmunds because of Middlesex commitments, the job went to all-rounder Martin Weightman in the first innings, while wicket-keeper George Arblaster went out first in the second innings.

Both of Bedfordshire’s Championship games so far have been badly affected by the weather.

Only one day’s play was possible at Bishop’s Stortford against Hertfordshire and, although Bedfordshire had much the better of it, they came away with only six points to the home county’s eight.

Beds were then on the back foot for the entire two days that saw play against Suffolk, but despite being made to follow on, still managed to pick up nine points from the drawn encounter.

Play is due to start at 11am on Sunday.

Bedfordshire: Oliver Clayson, Steve Stubbings, George Arblaster, George Thurstance, Andy Reynoldson, Oliver Swann, Dan Bendon, Martin Weightman, Chris Esh, Colin Griggs, Andy McGarry
