Ali snares four as Beds claim victory

BEDFORDSHIRE U13s claimed a five-wicket win against Leicestershire in a rain affected match at Ratcliffe College.

Bowling first, Beds took wickets at regular intervals to bowl their opponents out for 155 in the last of the allotted 40 overs.

Adil Ali was the pick of the attack with 4-18 and was well backed up by spinner Ross McMullen with 3-22. Kamran Bahra and Ben Bradley also took key wickets, while Kieran Smith bowled a tight spell.

The fielding was also excellent with keeper Ben Smith taking two catches and claiming two stumpings, while James Barron held on to a superb diving catch.

In reply, Beds openers Adit Shah and Scott Humphries – who both made 27 – started steadily but then the rain came with Beds 20-0 from seven overs.

After the enforced stoppage the target was revised to 83 from a total of 21 overs.

The opening partnership continued to flourish and was only broken with victory in sight.
