A bright opening 10 minute spell for Swifts saw them attacking the Dees line but solid defence, including some ferocious tackling from back-rower Nathan Dominique made sure the MIdhalds Four East South side never crossed the line.

With the wind behind him, Dees fly-half Kevin Boland punished any mistake by Swifts with long driving kicks back into their own half.

From one such clearance, the scrum was won against the head and quick work by scrum half Toby Mead sent Boland down the blindside to score the opening try of the match.

With Swifts already beginning to struggle to keep up with play a second scrum in the middle of the pitch was won by Deess and Boland’s initial break eventually put winger Mattie Anderson in for his first score.

As the game reached the 25 minute mark, Dees collected the ball in their own 22m area and good handling moved the ball wide to winger Max Thorne who made light work of the length of the pitch try to open his own account.

The next score came from a poor kick clearance from Swifts, which Thorne dislodged from his opponent and Boland was on hand to pick up the pieces and score his second of the game.

As the game moved towards half time, Swifts were struggling to maintain any possession and Dees were becoming more dominant in all areas of the game.

A charging run from skipper Aaron White-Martinez saw him crash through three wouldbe tacklers to score under the posts and make the interval score 31-0.

Any hopes that Swifts had of making an impact on the match now that they had the wind behind them were cruelly dashed within three minutes of the start of the interval.

Another scrum taken against the head saw the deadly combination of Boland and Thorne on the attack again.

As Boland broke the defensive line, Thorne cut through on his shoulder, as wlthough he still had work still to do, Thorne stepped his way past what was left of the defence to get Dees straight back on the scoreboard.

Midway through the half, it was the Thorne/Boland combination again that resulted in Dees’ seventh try of the game and completed Thorne’s hat-trick, finishing with electric speed once more.

Not to be outdone by his winger, Boland was next to cross the line and complete his own hat-trick.

A midfield break from Scott Warren put Boland away for a 25m sprint for the line that he won easily.

The final try of the game saw Anderson collect his second try of the day as a superb kick through from Toby Mead left Anderson on a straight foot race for the line, which he collected to score.
