Blues snap up giant lock Carrick-Smith from London Scottish

With four games left in the Greene King IPA Championship season, Bedford Blues have confirmed the signing of Will Carrick-Smith.

The lock is heading to Goldington Road having signed on from fellow Championship side London Scottish.

The second row star who stands at an impressive six feet 11 inches and tips the scales at 129kg (that’s 20 stone 4lb) has had one season at the Exiles having previously gained Premiership experience with Exeter Chiefs.

Speaking about the addition to the squad, Blues director of rugby Mike Rayer said: “Will is a big, strong lad who is going to add plenty of power in the engine room next season and our forwards coach Martin Hynes is very pleased to have him on board.

“Will comes with a glowing reference from the Chiefs and we have seen just what he is capable of in this league during his tenure with London Scottish.”
