Biviano belts 156 in Ampthill league victory

Jarryd Biviano smashed an incredible 156 off 100 balls to set Ampthill Town up for victory in the County League Division One on Sunday.

Biviano and fellow opener Tom Degnan (36) made 123 for the opening wicket at home to Cople.

When Degnan departed lbw, Biviano continued smashing the runs. His thid wicket partnership with Liam Everitt was worth 41, of which Liam got just one, until a mix up saw him depart run out.

This saw the start of a collapse although Biviano kept going, finally being out lbw and the side finished on 311-9.

Cople’ reply included a 96 run partnership between Lewis Perrin (75) and George Gregory (81no). However Kieran Smith ripped through the innings, taking 5-22 off six overs as Cople were all out for 206 in the 37th over.

Ampthill Town II enjoyed a 29 run victory in the County League Division Three at Dunstable Town III. Batting first, Richard Haxell top scored with 51 in a total of 212-6, with useful support from Will Glenister (35), Rajet Nahar (38), James Freeman (28) and Andy Passman (34).

Dunstable were set fair in reply at 130-1 but started to lose wickets and fell behind on the run rate. Martin Warman took 4-39 to ensure Dunstable ended short on 183-6.

In Herts League Division One Ampthill slipped to an agonising one wicket defeat at home to Old Albanians. Openers Jarryd Biviano and Rob Cummings both scored 46, and a 64 from James Kerr saw them put a respectable 254-7 on the scoreboard.

The reply kept the pulses racing. At 209-4 Old Albanians were in the box seat but Ampthill roared back and looked to be on the verge of victory as they reduced them to 245-9, Alex Evans taking 4-46. but the visitor’s last partnership dug in to get the runs.

Town II won a thriller at Broxbourne II, Paul Strong scoring a half century for Ampthill while the hosts fell just two runs short of the target in the final over.
