Beds quartet in England trials

After winning the region for the second year running, four of the Bedfordshire County Youth Pool Team have qualified for England trials this weekend at Club 147 in Leicester.

Newly-appointed vice captain James Molloy (Dunstable) and Joel Riddaway (Greenfield) have both qualified for the second year running.

M-Jaye Waller (Luton) has trialled in past years, but returned to form this term to qualify for trials alongside Callum Flecknell (Luton), who has qualified in his first full year of playing for the county.

Each Region takes eight players to the trials and, out of the 64 trialists, eight to 10 are selected to represent England.

Tom Church (Wilden) qualified in 2011 at his second attempt and this year progressed to the England U21 Team and won the world championships and is representing England U21s at the European Championships in February. Josh Riddaway (Greenfield), meanwhile, qualified in 2012 and is also playing at the European Championships, representing England U18.

Of the 64 players taking part, the best two will also go to the European Championships for the U18 Team. If Joel makes it, it means two brothers will play for England for the first time.
