Beds back to winning ways

The Bedfordshire County Youth Pool Team bounced straight back to winning ways with a 25-19 triumph at Norfolk.

Determined to make amends for their first defeat in two years last month, the first two sets were comfortable 7-4 and 8-3 victories, before Norfolk rallied back to take the third set 7-4. However, a 6-5 win in the last set ensured success.

England international and captain, Josh Riddaway (Greenfield), was man of the match, winning all four games and moved to the top of the region singles rankings. Bradley Andrews (Luton), had an excellent debut winning two out of four, while Jordan Rice (Bedford), M-Jaye Waller (Luton) and Adam Toms (Brogborough) picked up wins.

Youngsters Cody Beckett (Bedford) and Jake Baldwin (Houghton Regis), continue to improve and Beckett potted a tremendous black along the cushion to take the match-winning 23rd frame.

Next up is the new English Junior Tour, starting on Sunday, April 22 in Hertfordshire, Josh Riddaway, Joel Riddaway, Toms, Molloy, Flecknell and Waller are all involved.
