With six games of their campaign remaining, the A’s sit third in the table, three points behind Plymouth Albion who they’ve still to play.

However, director of rugby, Mark Lavery is wholly focussed on the imminent challenge – a road trip to Coventry as he said: “They’re unbeaten at home this season. They’ve improved massively from last year and they’re proud of that home record, it’s important to them.

“They’ll be underwhelmed by their current place in the division, given their resources, standing and tradition.”

Ampthill’s starting XV includes a front row of Brett Sturgess [loosehead], Aleki Lutui [hooker] and Matt Collins [tighthead], locks Karl Braband and Paino Hehea, wing forwards Loti Molitika [blind] and Will Allman [open] and Maama Molitika at number 8.

Ben Calder [9] joins Will Tarrant [10] at half back, Will Goodge [12] and Sam Hanks [13] start in the centre, Sam Bake [left] and Karim Lynch [right] on either wing and Stef Jones at full back.

Lavery added: “There’s just one change to the starting XV, as we need that continuity with a challenge like this.

“They’ve a big stadium, a big support – this is a big occasion and we’ll need a big performance to get anything from it.”

Kick off at the Butts Park Arena is 2:15pm
